FUNCTIONING WITH THE OVERCOMERS' MENTALITY

Overcomers' mentality is for the chosen ones in Christ who continually renew their minds with the Word of God in order to establish the victory of Christ in their sphere of activities and operation. An overcomer is not someone who does not face challenges. An overcomer is the one who knows what Christ has done for him, and then uses or applies that 'bundle of knowledge' to his advantage, in any given situation, until Christ's victory becomes a reality in anything he gets involved (and until every situation in his life aligns with the description of Christ's victory).

'And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.'

Every born again child of God is a product of redemption, made possible by the blood of the Lamb. Peter 1:18-19 (NIV) reads, 'For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.' So your victory partly has to do with the precious sacrifice of Christ on the Cross. No wonder our referenced Scripture says, 'they overcame him "because" of the blood of the lamb...'

This transaction removed us from Satan's domain of darkness and transferred us into Christ's kingdom (see Colossians 1:13 NLT). Hence, the transfer made us overcomers in Christ. In other words, for you to be an overcomer, you have to be placed at the right Kingdom. So your victory partly has to do with the domain you function from (see 1 John 5:5).

Furthermore, another aspect of establishing the overcomer's mentality is confession and testimony. Your confession and testimony play a major role in exercising your victory over the Devil. He is already a defeated foe. All you need to do in any trial or challenge is to resolutely confess your faith in Jesus' finished work on Calvary. You are not trying to overcome the devil in any area of your life. You have already overcame him through the victory of Christ on the cross. But to show that you've overcome, each time the enemy shows up, you must replay the rhythm of confession of your faith and testimony. That serves as a proof of your triumph over him.

For instance, when you graduate from the university, you are handed a certificate which testifies that you're now a graduate. Now, you've passed the level of being a student, because you've triumphantly made it through the exams and obstacles encountered in the process. However, after graduation, when you meet people on the way, your graduation is not written on your face. And that means, people may never know except you declare it so during your interactions with them.

What does this suggest? When you say it out, people will hear and know that you're a graduate, and give you the due respect. If they doubt you, you can disclose your graduation certificate, and that settles the doubt beyond argument. Same way, when the enemy comes, you reveal your 'conqueror' credentials by confessing and testifying of the victory Jesus has given you. That way you establish your victory over him.

'And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony....' Did you notice that you overcame the devil, not because you are a Christian, not because you go to church, and not because you know the Bible. It is because you're positioned at the right domain by Christ's blood sacrifice, you put the Word to work by steady meditation and confession and you testify about your victory in Christ by solemn declarations.

Henceforward, you can get it right and establish victories in any area of life with the mentality of an overcomer. Glory to God!

Heavenly Father, I lift up my voice of praise to you, along with the saints down through the ages, and the twenty-four elders around your throne, who worship you and rejoice about Christ's victory over Satan, sin and death. I transmit a high energy level, knowing that my victory in Christ is superior to Satan, disease, lack, powers and corrupting influences of the world. I operate from the kingdom and economy of winners, where I pick the signal and whispers of an overcomer in my spirit and translate them to dominion in my world. Today and always, I travel in the direction of my victories and triumph as I make the utterances of my testimonies, in line with God's Word. Praise God!
