FAITH NEEDS A GROUND TO REST ON
Many of us know about this popular Scripture: For we walk by faith, not by sight. In relation and in addition to this truth, our faith is designed to rest on something. In other words, faith is not just belief; faith requires basis or ground for its action or inaction. By basis or ground, I mean - the justification for or reasoning behind it. There must be an underlying support or foundation on which your faith rests.
Reference: 1 Corinthians 2:5 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 'So that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.'
In Christ Jesus, our faith functions on godly principles. Our faith rests on spiritual truths. The success or results of our faith are entirely based on divine power accompanying the Word of God. Apostle Paul revealed this to us by showing us how he functioned and getting us informed on where to find a base for our faith.
God's intention is to furnish us on a firm and solid foundational truths, so that our faith transactions will not be based on human wisdom. If our faith lies in human wisdom, then it is no longer divine. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:13 (NIV), 'It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak.' Beloved, we believe in the things that are written in the Scriptures because God is the One that revealed them to us; thus we function with divine faith based on the Scriptures.
Your faith should never stand in or rest on the wisdom of men, but the Word and power of God. If you walk under the influence of the power of God's Word, the Spirit of God will continually direct your steps and fuel your faith actions and inactions. Our faith is the faith that upholds everything in our world by the Word of His power (see Hebrews 1:3 NASB). That's how we live by faith - based on the power of God.
Your faith must never be attributed to the wordings and wisdom of human understanding. Eloquence and persuasive oratory are great, but faith only based on that is standing on a shaky foundation. That's what Paul was telling us, because when he first came to Corinth, he himself was not very impressive (1 Corinthians 2:4 KJV). Instead, he presented the truth with clarity of perception and the demonstration of power of God. So faith based on the right ground grants us mastery, dominion, artistry and quickness of perception.
When your faith rests on the right ground, instead of the wisdom of men, you can sustain all things in your life by God's powerful Word. All things include: your health, finance, relationships, spiritual growth and comprehension, business, intelligence, prosperity, excellence, beauty, inventions, creativity, enterprises, initiatives, resources and so on. You'll just see yourself functioning with superior mental acumen and tactical shrewdness, to the glory to God!
