TWO IMPORTANT PRIVILEGES OF THE RIGHTEOUS - PART 1
MONDAY 29 AUGUST 2022
The righteous has two significant signatures of being fit in their place or position in the Lord. They are expected to live a life that breaks out of these two branches I'm going to share today and as born again Christians, we should arm ourselves with the insight into this profound realities revealed in order experience these two privileges in our lives. Beneficially, we can never remain the same as we grasp the transforming power of today's Scripture through the working and enlightenment of the Spirit of God.
Reference: Psalm 112:6 New International Version (NIV) "Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever."
Two important privileges of the righteous in today's verse are: 1. The righteous will never be shaken. 2. They will be remembered forever.
Considering the first clause, "the righteous will never be shaken", it is talking about the fixed-generating capacity of the righteous. Being unshaken or unperturbed is an outstanding feature or quality typically belonging to the righteous. The definition "unshakeable" seeks to identify their image. It is a character formed in the righteous, which shapes him in a way that suits his functional ability. The synonyms are: Firm, steadfast, steady, unbendable, unfaltering, unwavering and resolute. The righteous is firm in purpose or belief and he's characterized by toughness and determination.
Now watch this: This Scripture didn't exactly say, "If you are a righteous person, you will not be shaken." What did it say? It says, "Surely the righteous will never be shaken." Now what am I teaching here? I mean that it's not all the righteous people that are unshakeable. The referenced verse simply described what the righteous is not supposed to do. Already, I know according to the Scriptures, that if you are a born again Christian, you are declared or made righteous before God. Now it's your responsibility to master the character of the righteous. Got it? Put it this way: Once you discover that the righteous is not designed to be shaken by anything, what should be your response? Take on the character and keep functioning correspondingly until it becomes an ineffaceable or ineradicable part of your life.
To instantiate this character known as unshakeable, let's look at Ephesians 6:10-18, where apostle Paul shared about the armour of God. It reads, "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests..." (NIV).
The Pauline Scripture reference above are self-explanatory. To be unshakeable here, is to be strong, unmoved and established in faith, thereby standing firm in the Lord. To sustain this character and ability in your Christian walk or journey on earth, you must be willing to observe all the Pauline expressions specified above in the book of Ephesians 6:10-18. Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - Psalm 16:8; 1 Corinthians 16:13; Psalm 112:8; 1 Timothy 6:12.
Exuberant declaration: God is gracious, compassionate and righteous and I'm so grateful for the infinite measure of His goodness and faithfulness in my life. As the righteous, I will never be shaken, for I'm hugely supported, helped and remembered by God forever. I fear nothing because my heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. I'm forever victorious, triumphant and successful because God's open hand supplies all my need and satisfies all my desire. Blessed be God!
