THE REASON YOU MUST DEPEND ON THE LORD - PART 3

FRIDAY 30 DECEMBER 2022

A great many passages have been written in the Bible about God's faithfulness in providing for His children and they are inspired by the Holy Spirit, which means that God's virtuous mind is represented in all of them, and it describes His unwavering commitment or obligation to sustain His own. One of these Scriptures is noted below.

Reference: Isaiah 58:11 New Living Translation (NLT) "The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring."

Water is a matter of great importance and this is why the Lord provides it for His children. Of course, we all need water to live. Therefore divine provision is God's will and He doesn't neglect the provision. He runs an economy of abundance, yet many of us are driven by worry instead of positioning ourselves to receive divine provisions.

However, here is the greater light: God is no longer waiting to give us water when we are dry; He did something better for us. He brought salvation to us through Christ. So the greatest gift we could ever receive is salvation in Christ. Once you come to Christ, you can have access to all sorts of provision by trusting and exercising your faith in Him. Remember that the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NLT) ~ "For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!" And through Christ, our "Amen" (which means "Yes") ascends to God for His glory." This Scripture simply points to the truth that the whole provision we require in life is available in Christ. Therefore Jesus is the answer and ultimate source of unending water, in relation to our referenced Scripture.

No wonder Isaiah 12:3 (NASB) reads, "Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation." You don't have to ask God for water because His all-round provision has already been given in Christ, in whom there is salvation. This means that your salvation is the ultimate treasure because you can joyously draw water from its springs, at will. However, our greatest need is to become more like Christ and conform to His image. In doing so, we will always have everything we need. Remember that by His divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. But how can we receive all? The same Scripture tells us how: "We have received all of this by coming to know Him, the one who called us to Himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence" (2 Peter 1:3 NLT). Simply put, by knowing Him, we become more like Him, thereby receiving all we need for life and godliness.

Beloved everything we require in life is in Christ Jesus. Just get to know Him better. Having considered the generosity of the Philippian Christians, apostle Paul penned the same truth that all our provision is housed in Christ. He actually said, "And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19 NLT). God supplies all our needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in who? In Christ! Therefore, when you put your trust in Christ and exercise your faith in the Word, which is where all the provision is specified, God is obligated to provide and care for you according to your desire and in relation to His will. The challenge is for us to respond to His Word in regards to our various needs. Stay tuned for part 4. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Genesis 9:3; Luke 12:24; John 15:7; Hebrews 4:16.

Exuberant Declaration: God always takes care of me and supplies all my needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to me in Christ Jesus.
