DOMINION AND AWE - PART 4
SATURDAY 04 MARCH 2023
Some people don't believe in the things of the Spirit mainly because they cannot see God. They explain their life's encounters, situations and activities, based on natural causes and effects, because they are godless and have failed to acknowledge that God is real on earth and so they are far from functioning with His peace and order, which exist and work in our favour based on our union with Christ. And believe me, there's an enormous level of importance attributable to the consciousness of carrying the atmosphere of the Divine in our lives as Christians. More below!
Reference: Job 25:2 Amplified Bible (AMP)
"Dominion and awe belong to God; He establishes peace and order in His high places."
When the writer says, "God establishes peace and order in His high places", it suggests that peace and order are fully operational in God's heaven. And they are described as being pari passu because they are enforced by God without preference. Simply put, they are equal in operation. Got it! And this peace and order signalize the atmosphere of God's presence. Although both of them are king-size in description, I'll try my best to compress their explanations into a relatively medium account.
When Jesus said, "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world" (John 16:33 ESV), He was communicating the atmosphere of Kingdom of heaven, which He carried along with Him while on earth. Peace and order are in God's high places, and equally, Jesus the Son of the living God, is a place of peace and order. So He assures that in the godless world, you are bound to experience challenges. But as long as you belong to Christ, take heart, because He already conquered the world, even as the Prince of Peace, according to Isaiah 9:6 (ESV).
Coordinately, this is why we find this peace in our hearts, which in turn, brings order within our thought pattern, when we keep our mind stayed on God (see Isaiah 26:3 ESV). The Scripture actually says, "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you." When a peace is described as perfect, it means that order is in place. And to all who are born again, whose thoughts are fixed on God and on whom His image is renewed, the presence of peace and order is sure to govern your life, because the Almighty God and His eternal truth have made it so.
Also when the Bible says, "Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23 NKJV), it is talking about establishing peace and order in your heart. As we keep ourselves immersed in the Word of God, every truth that we need for our guidance in all circumstances is sourced from it and stored in our hearts. And as we keep our hearts with all diligence, peace and order will prevail in our lives, just like God's heaven would be no heaven, if there was no peace and order.
We also require peace and order to enforce our desires and apply other principles of Christianity to our daily Christian lives. To that effect, Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." More so, Colossians 3:15 (ESV) says, "And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful." Why rule your heart? It's because God's atmosphere is characterized by peace and order.
Aside from peace, order is of paramount importance in our Christian lives. Even in your day-to-day outdoor activities, as the peace of God rules in your heart and lives in your mind, order emanates from your spirit to govern your actions and to order your steps. While we face life's situations by faith, order is the knowledge, deep down inside, that things will be done in the right manner when we are out there. In fact, without order in place, you can't fully expect things to always turn out right. This is because nothing much is achieved in an atmosphere of chaos, disorder, havoc, jumble, mess, confusion, and disorganization. Think about it: You couldn't drive your car without the traffic light system or traffic signals in place to bring order, otherwise, someone would cross the road and crash into you.
Furthermore, order was the new testament apostles' grand design throughout their epistles as they remained dedicated to consistency and perseverance in their attachment to the gospel, and in carrying out their various callings (Acts 2:41-43 NLT). Unavoidably, I will stop here because in this article, I have exceeded the length of order and normalcy in relation to my comprehensive exposition and revelatory expression, due to the vastness of this topic. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - Isaiah 26:12; Isaiah 32:17; Romans 8:6; 1 Corinthians 14:33; 2 Thessalonians 3:16.
Guided Prayer: Righteous and faithful God, the work of your righteousness in the heavens is peace and order, and the effect is quietness and assurance forever. In essence, I'm fully convinced of the truth that you are the only true God, who establishes peace in the hearts of men and order in their lives. Under the influence, and by the assistance of the Holy Spirit, you furnish my life with good things and extraordinary gifts, to confirm your presence and peace. Hence, I'm forever grateful for the revelation and glory of your dominion and awe in my life, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
