THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD'S WILL - PART 4
THURSDAY 19 JANUARY 2023
To function in the wisdom of the Spirit, you have to develop strong passion for it and pray. When you make it your conscious aim, you'll gain a wisdom-guided will, which will govern your mind and action. To that effect, apostle Paul and Timothy prayed that God would grant the Colossian saints all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.
Reference: Colossians 1:9 New Living Translation (NLT) "So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding."
Today, we are still discussing the mystery of divine wisdom. You need the wisdom of the Spirit, especially the practical aspect of wisdom to action whatever the time actually requires you to do in any particular situation, just at the right time. And it's not always as the situation demands from the human standpoint but as the Spirit guides, meaning that human wisdom will rarely apply to some certain cases while walking in step with the Spirit. However, wisdom comes in degrees. In accordance with this truth, the Bible noted that Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people (Luke 2:52 NLT).
The fullness of Christ's wisdom transcends all of human wisdom, even the wisest man that ever lived (King Solomon). Christ's supremacy in wisdom transcends all of creation gathered together. This wisdom is the brightness of God's glory and the express image of His person, upholding all things by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3 NKJV). True wisdom and excellence is found in Him and in fact, His wisdom is divine, meaning that it falls under no human classification.
The wisdom of the Spirit is supremely right; it keeps the heart burning within us and places the mind at rest and in deep, peaceful satisfaction. Why did I mention peaceful satisfaction? James 3:17 says, "But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere" (NLT). This wisdom from above is peace-loving and it denotes Christ because the wisdom came down to mankind! Beloved, true wisdom is always peaceful in operation. No wonder King Solomon was regarded as a peaceful King, considering the fact that there was no war during his reign.
Christ is the oldest wisdom, yet relevant from generation to generation. Proverbs 8:22 reads, "I, wisdom was with the Lord when he began his work, long before he made anything else" (NCV). Wisdom is saying, "The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old." Then in verse 30, wisdom said, "I was right beside the Lord, helping him plan and build. I made him happy each day, and I was happy at his side" (CEV). Here the Scripture revealed that Christ is the wisdom of God that created all things. The Book of John referred to this wisdom as Christ, the Eternal Word. John 1:1-3 reads, "In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him" (NLT).
This is why the wisdom speaks as the ancient. In John 8:56-58, wisdom said, "Your father Abraham rejoiced as he looked forward to my coming. He saw it and was glad." The people said, "You aren't even fifty years old. How can you say you have seen Abraham?" Wisdom answered, "I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I am!" (NLT). Indeed, before Abraham was, I am (wisdom). This wisdom created all intelligence, influence, knowledge, insight, splendour, virtue, information, honour, acuity and common sense. Its life brought light to everyone and its dominion is the apex of endless glory. To gain insight into the Spirit of understanding, stay tuned for part 5. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - Daniel 5:10-16; Acts 6:3; 1 Corinthians 12:8; Acts 6:9-10.
Exuberant Declaration: Wisdom speaks and I listen because it is honest, and I have gained the perfect understanding that words of wisdom are fitted to produce the best in me. Its instruction reveals true knowledge which means more to me than silver and the finest gold. Wisdom is worth much more than precious jewels and its a better ideal for life. Blessed be God!
