Reference: Matthew 6:22-23 New International Version (NIV)
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness."
In part 4, I'm still on the first versified segment:
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light."
Beloved, if your eyes are healthy, nothing would hinder the passage of the speed of light, meaning that you'll grasp any message or vision involved in the light that is being transmitted.
Moreover, through the eyes, all manner of light will continue to gravitate towards the body from external forces and factors, before saturating the entire person. This is because "light as a concept" has variable nature.
So the eyes can see many things or objects, when incoming light rays strike a surface, space and viewable textures - both indoors and outdoors. The same eyes primarily interact with what is seen through reflection, reflaction, diffraction, and absorption, because these factors often influence how objects are seen or viewed. Having said that, we are now headed to notice how healthy eyes are functionally cultivated:
Psalm 101:3 reads,
"I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I have hated the work of those turning aside; It does not adhere to me" (ESV/LSV).
What does this versified statement imply? It implies that even though the eye, as an access point, can see and behold many things under the light that is directly reflected or diffused, a child of God does not have to entertain or embrace the physical reality of most of the "seen" especially when its unjust and inappropriate in any given situation, regardless of the brightness of the objects. Simply put, a born again Christian will not look with approval, things that are unworthy of his godly consideration or anything that is vile or worthless, because they exude contradictory effects compared to his true identity in Christ.
When you don't approve negativity and all other objects of light lacking nobility in description, quality and purpose, it means that you'll be far from being negatively influenced by such light, and more so, you'll hate what faithless people do with such unwanted reflective influence - through their empirical perception. You'll also play zero part in what you have seen, because you discarded the "seen" with a strong aura of disapproval. That's what makes your eyes healthy. Got it.
Another Scripture, which is culled from Pauline epistolary expression, reads:
"While we look not at the things which are seen..."
(2nd Corinthians 4:18 KJV).
Beloved, the author truly understood that there are many things that are seen, but we don't have to consider and entertain all of them, in order to ensure that the unrewarding, unpleasant, and unfavourable ones don't gain mastery over our spirit, soul and body, because once they are ungainly internalized, they will reside and settle within, to the point of becoming an inner guiding force of "low standard" and dishonourable influence, which can provide undesirably immoral guidance. Stay tuned for part 5. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - Proverbs 4:25; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Philippians 4:8; Romans 12:2.
Guided Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I honour you today for the internally abiding presence of your Spirit who guides me into all truth concerning the Kingdom of light. By His governing influence, my eyes are enabled to focus on heavenly realities which in turn empower me to filter the analytical images and thoughts concerning all the objects of light that encroach upon my body and physical surroundings, and to coordinate my actions in a way that pleases you, thereby shunning the features of light that are not noble, honourable and positively transforming, in Jesus' name, Amen.
