THE DEPTH OF GOD - PART 2

WEDNESDAY 02 JUNE 2021

Long before God established earth's foundations, He had us in mind as the focus of His love. Indeed, may blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be unto the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing (given by the Holy Spirit) in the heavenly realm.

Reference: 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 New Living Translation (NLT) "That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets."

Part of the deep things of God are about His mind and knowledge before creation, time, and history began and in fact - all eternity. The Spirit searches out everything and shows us the deep secrets of God.

Man has three distinct parts - a physical body, a soul which consists of one's mind/spiritual heart and their personality, and a spirit that grants us, as the new creation, unlimited access to the spiritual realm and to God. However, our spirit plays a very important role in our Christian life because the Bible says, "the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him" (1 Corinthians 6:17 NLT). This is why the Spirit of God makes contact with our spirit, or rather has become one with our recreated spirit.

Ephesians 1:9 says, "God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ- which is to fulfil his own good plan"(NLT). Although the mystery of God's will is set forth in Christ, according to God's purpose, we cannot know it except its revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. Christ is an unsearchable mystery. While on earth, the disciples who were very close to Him and even walked with Him throughout His ministry for three years could not understand Him.

This is what Colossians 2:3 says about Christ: In him lie hidden all the mighty, untapped treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Living Bible). In detail, it means, in {Christ} lie hidden all the mighty, untapped treasures of {secular and spiritual supernatural} wisdom and knowledge, to be made available or revealed to the new creation by the Spirit. This is why He promised the disciples the Holy Spirit. At one time, Jesus said to them, "I still have much to tell you, but you cannot yet bear to hear it. However, when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak what He hears, and He will declare to you what is to come" (see John 16:12-13).

There are untapped treasures of wisdom and knowledge lying hidden in Christ, which means that an advanced development of spiritual truths is yet to be witnessed by the body of Christ. So the expression: "For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God's deep secrets", means that on His side, there is a constant readiness to impart to us everything that He searches out from the Father, including untapped hidden treasures. That's why in every age, the body of Christ functions with a particular body of knowledge.

For instance, the knowledge the early Church had about Christianity or Christ Himself, is nothing compared to what we have today because, through the searches conducted by the Holy Spirit in this present age, there are advanced lessons which God has taught the body of Christ. In fact this happens to the Church in every age. In other word, in every new generation, there seems to be higher truths than before, revealed to the church by the Holy Spirit - our guide to all truth.

However, revelations of the Spirit, in line with God's depth, can only be grasped by the sound mind and quickened spirit which can receive it. Although God has ordained pastors, teachers, apostles, prophets and specially gifted stewards of the Kingdom mysteries to discern and become responsible for teaching revealed truths as the Holy Spirit unveils them, the church (body of Christ) requires a sound mind and quickened spirit to absorb the deep secrets. Stay tuned for part 3 of this topic. Shalom!

Guided Prayer: Thank you Father for the indwelling of Christ in my heart. By being united to Christ as one spirit, I'm attuned to mysterious realities of the Kingdom revealed to me by the Spirit. Thus, I'm forever grateful for the deep things of the Spirit, which are incalculable and of unspeakable value to my spirit, thereby experiencing the everlasting and unchangeable love of Christ, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
