Reference: Acts 20:32 New Living Translation (NLT)
"And now I entrust you to God and the message of His grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those He has set apart for Himself."
Apostle Paul says, "And now I entrust you to God and the message of His grace that is able to build you up", which means that it is characterized by layers of rich flavours of divine construction. This is an excellent message, because there is a recognition of the truth that it builds up, instead of bringing down, decreasing, destroying, declining or programming someone to fail.
To clearly expound the embedded verity in the versified reference, I have decided to divide the statement into 3 segments, such as:
1. And now I entrust you to God and the message of His grace,
2. that is able to build you up,
3. and give you an inheritance with all those He has set apart for Himself.
Since Paul was indelibly departing from the Ephesian leaders and elders, he entrusted them to God and the message of His grace. It was like a direct voluntary "Hand over" to a greater Sovereign with unlimited dominance, and His effective tool for transformative and empowering influence. This entrustment attitude is exemplified in the life of the Lord Jesus Christ, who expressed His full commitment to God's will.
To instantiate this significant verity, you might entrust your children to a greater relevant authority, which is an act of trust that is built on a strong system of belief that the higher authority will fulfill their obligation and deliver the very intended and desired mission in those children's lives, especially because the "entruster" has so much confidence in the greater authority. So Paul delivered them in trust to God, and the message of His grace, knowing fully well that the priceless treasures embedded in the gospel message is more than enough to construct their "mental and spiritual" build up, and such success or impact is on account of God's power and dominion.
First Question:
What is so uniquely mind-blowing about God and the message of His grace? The twofold sovereign greatness and authority have an overarching propensity to consistently reveal divine truths, and to deliver the precise descriptions of what they reveal. Therefore, for the Ephesian leaders and elders, prioritizing their commitment to God and the message of grace, would definitely focus their attention on the ways and work of the Spirit, and such attentive focus would allow them to see and experience His manifest work in, through and around them.
Second Question:
What is notably special about Paul's critical attitudinal effectiveness in recommending them to God, the Father, and His gracious Word? To the apostle, it was another occasion of granting favourable assurance to the system of God's grace that truly works, by justifying the glorious impact of divine wisdom, which is able to able to build up and deliver what can shape anyone into what God wants them to be, as well as give them everything they could possibly need. So by turning them over to our marvelous God, and His gracious Word, he pointed them to the truest source of power of change and unending blessing and glory.
In the same manner, your life should point others to the source of eternal hope, true power of change, and enduring transformation - on a regular basis or reasonable continuance. Stay tuned for part 5. Shalom!
