SURRENDER YOUR PLANS TO THE LORD - PART 2

Updated: Feb 11

Reference: Psalm 37:5-6 New Living Translation (NLT)

"Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust Him, and He will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun."

Today's article is focused on the first segment, namely:

"Commit everything you do to the LORD."

Here the Psalmist focuses our attention on all-encompassing commitment to God. The ordinary mind may not see the need or reason for such a thing as "committing all your ways to the LORD", because it is not a humanly-inspired commitment.

This kind of commitment is not a wishful request to God but a confident conviction based on who God is and what He represents in our lives, enabling us in our prayer lifestyle, to align with the purpose for which we were created. So committing everything you do to the Lord helps you to live purposefully and encourages you to clearly see your place of operation in an ongoing account of God's perfect will for you life.

One of the most important blessings in committing your way to the Lord is that it reveals your level of dedication to His acceptance and approval, plus your attentive delightfulness in the Lord. To that effect Psalm 37:4 (ESV) reads, "Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart." However, before you can delight yourself in the Lord, you must ask yourself this vital question: Is He really your personal Lord? This is because some people call Him Lord, yet they do not see the need to obey His Word.

Zero wonder Jesus asked, "So why do you keep calling me 'Lord, Lord!' when you don't do what I say? (Luke 6:46 NLT). Understand this truth: Delighting yourself in the LORD truly denotes that He will give you the desires of your heart, but those desires must have your craving attention focused on the Person and finished work of Jesus Christ and His glory. Have you seen the reason you should do what He says? It affirms that your love for His glory and abiding presence in you is waxing strong.

If you are extremely perceptive, you'll notice that His immortal pre-eminence is more than enough to impel your commitment to Him in all aspects of life - a functioning condition specifically designed for the gods alone. Once you are observantly impelled by the sense of His transcendent invincibility and supreme immortality, you'll discover that you function with an active excelling power in the realm of unwavering trust, and thus, you'll begin to experience the stages of spiritual development in your commitment to the Lord, which are unknowable by human understanding.

Furthermore, "committing everything you do to the LORD" implies that you have gained a personal level of cognizance which acknowledges that the Lord is concerned about your cares, and so, He wants us as His people to continually experience a spiritual unity WHICH IS more centred on our oneness with God the Father and the Son [inextricable union with Godhead]. And as we experience a heightened level of devotion in our God-Christ unified association, we share His Glory and obtain His unfailing help and assured favour. To that effect, Davidic inspired utterance numbered as Psalm 55:22 exhorts you to, "Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken" (NIV).

Beloved, have you ever considered our referenced Scripture as "too-obvious signal" that you have regard to the Lord bumper to bumper, when you are fond of committing everything you do to Him?  And there is great heavenly treasures always in store for the one who seeks God wholeheartedly, with the wholeness of dedicated power of light in them. Therefore, "As for me, I would seek God, and to God would I commit my cause" (Job 5:8 ESV).

So many people in the world today, may certainly have encountered several opportunities to get to know God the Father and the Son, but still, many prefer to go on in the blindness of mind and hardness of heart. But I thank God that as a born again Christian, I can bear witness to the truth that "I commit everything I do to the LORD" by casting ALL my care upon Him, because He cares for me (1 Peter 5:7 NKJV). Stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!
