SUPERLATIVE POSSIBILITIES  - PART 3

SATURDAY 24 AUGUST 2024

Any possibility that is worthy of praise and honour is a superlative possibility, which is what God is capable of doing. When a possibility has every good and desirable element, plus qualities or characteristics, such as being excellent, pre-eminent, remarkable, distinctive, marvellous and exceptional, and it's based on truth, wisdom, and righteousness - it often denotes the presence and work of God.

Zero wonder the Bible says, "Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens..." (James 1:17 NLT). Therefore, I can feasibly say that superlative possibilities are perfect possibilities, which offer advantageous scope and perspective and can as well, guarantee anyone's hope, even in an unexpected or uncertain moments. More below!

Reference: Matthew 19:26 New International Version (NIV)

"Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

In the previous article, while describing God as the personification of love, I stated that Christ was able to accomplish His atoning sacrifice because of God's colossal love for us. God is a great giver of good and perfect gift which indicates that Christ, who is the source of our superlative possibilities, is a perfect gift from God. To that effect, God Himself understands what superlative possibilities are, because that's the level of gift He is sufficiently able to provide for mankind. Think about it: If God was unwilling to withhold Christ from us by presenting Him as a perfect sacrifice, what perfect gift would He deny us? Pauline epistolary expression numbered as Romans 8:32 put it in this manner:

"Since He did not spare even His own Son but gave Him up for us all, won't He also give us everything else?" (NLT).

Recently, I asked myself this question: What if Christ was not given? This means that expressing appreciation for His atoning sacrifice is a great delight. Another important truth, which I wholeheartedly considered about God, is that He is perfect. How do I know? It's only a perfect God that can give a perfect gift. God's divine nature symbolizes a radiant perfection, and embodies an unfailing beacon of pre-eminent reality that transcends the natural realm and also encourages the saints to walk in spiritual perfection in the realm of Christ. To that effect, Jesus said, "You, therefore, will be perfect [growing into spiritual maturity both in mind and character, actively integrating godly values into your daily life], as your heavenly Father is perfect" (Matthew 5:48 AMP).

God is a God of superlative possibilities, who has revealed Himself as the perfect Father in all His creation, and then sent His Beloved Son to redeem His most valuable creation from eternal damnation. To that effect, Petrine epistolary expression numbered as 1st Peter 2:9 reads, "But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A CONSECRATED NATION, A [special] PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (NLT). What did God choose and call us to do? To proclaim His excellencies, such as His wonderful deeds, virtues and perfections, through the Holy Spirit, by His active, expressive nature within us.

Still on "who is God?" Having discovered that God is love, and He is a perfect God, there is one more attractive attribute I want to acknowledge about Him, which is a word often chosen to signify His "far-reaching" workings, both in the entire universe and in the soul and spirit of man. God is light! According to Johannine literature, God is light, and there is no darkness in Him at all (1 John 1:5 NLT). His light serves as a glorious brightness with illuminating intensity, emblematic of divine wisdom, holiness, and spiritual understanding. The Psalmist analysed His light in this manner: "For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see" (Psalm 36:9 NLT).

Walking in God's light is a profound awareness of His enduring and transforming presence in the saints, that aims to boost our reliance on eternal truths, which in turn, are geared towards handling life's issues or complexities. Stay tuned for part 4. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Psalm 119:130; Ecclesiastes 2:13; Mark 10:27; Luke 18:27.

Guided Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you are a great light that shines in the darkness, yet darkness cannot fathom or overcome it. Thank you for the light of the glorious gospel of Christ that brightly shines in my heart, and exerts your image in my life, thereby making any impossibility possible, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
