SET APART FOR GOD
TUESDAY 14 SEPTEMBER 2021
Every born again Christian has been set apart for God. That means, we are called and set apart to share the love of God with others, to extend His Kingdom to the lost souls in our world and to bring them to the knowledge of Christ Jesus. To be set apart for God is to live in such a way that glorifies Him on earth.
Reference: Romans 6:22 New Life Version (NLV) "But now you are free from the power of sin. You have become a servant for God. Your life is set apart for God-like living. The end is life that lasts forever."
The new creation is free from the power and nature of sin. Having been freed from this corrupt power and nature, we have become servants for God. In other words, we now serve God because we are no longer living without Christ. We have a new life in Christ which results in a holy life and finally, in eternal life at the end of age, as we spend eternity with God.
When you think of yourself as dead to the power of sin, it means that you are free from its rule and government because you now have a new life in the Lord Jesus Christ and you are living this new life for God. Some Christians take this vital Scripture as just a quote from Paul. However it's proper insight and understanding empower a Christian to live a life of dominion over sin. Romans 6:14 (NLT) says, "Sin is no longer your master...", which means that you have a new Lord and Master, Christ Jesus. You are now ruled by the freedom of God's grace and not by the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:2 says, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." How did this happen? This is how: Paul said that we were crucified with Christ, and that we died, and were buried with Him from the spiritual perspective. Having been raised up with Christ, the old life we had which was governed by the law of sin and death came to an abrupt end. That means, our crucifixion with Christ made us free from the clutches of the god of this world, who used to be our master, through the reign of sinful nature, but now, we are no longer His subjects, as we have become servants for God. Hallelujah!
When we died with Christ, the government of the god of this world lost its grip, power and dominion over us. So we are no longer subjects of the kingdom of darkness, instead, we have been transferred into the Kingdom of light, where we are set apart for God. Beloved, we have our spiritual being in Christ because we have the Spirit of Christ resident in us. This is why we must refuse to conform to the world. Just as Christ conquered the kingdom of darkness, so have we overcome the world and the domain of darkness - in Him (Christ); thus Satan has no atom of hold over us anymore.
Beloved, you have been completely set apart to shine as light amid the world of darkness and our hostile enemy, the Devil and his minions. And the Bible says, "Our light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it" (John 1:5 NLT paraphrased). Because we are in Christ Jesus, we no longer have anything in common with Satan, and having become servants for God, we are now set apart for God-like living and the end is that our lives will last forever, which is eternal life in Jesus Christ. Shalom!
