OUR NOBLE BIRTH

Human beings can reproduce only human life, but the Word and the Spirit of God give birth to spiritual life. Jesus explained this in details when Nicodemus came to see Him at night. He answered Nicodemus saying, ''Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit. Do not be amazed that I said, 'You must be born again.'' This was Jesus, talking about noble birth.

Reference: ◄1 Peter 1:23 New Living Translation (NLT) 'For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.'

Your new birth is noble because you didn't obtain it on the basis of the law or human nature but from the supreme and divine nature that God has implanted or installed in your spirit. Simply put, in Christ, you have a noble birth, a kingly spirit, a dignified nature and eternal life.

Romans 8:16-17 (NLT) says, 'The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children, and since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ, we are heirs of God's glory.' Beloved, we are heirs of glory, princes of royal blood and descendants of the King of kings and the Lord of Lords.

That's what Peter was reminding us in the above Scripture. He says, 'because of your noble birth, you are of a royal lineage and being a descent from God, the Creator of all things, you now have an immortal destiny.' That means, the new life you have in Christ shall never cease or pass away. Though the glory of your flesh shall fade because it is subject to time-limits, your divine existence shall never cease.

What is the source of your new life? The eternal, living Word of God. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. 2 Peter 1:4 (NLT) lets us know that we share His divine nature because of this new life. Therefore, to live as a born again Christian is to acknowledge the true dignity of your divine nature and live in light of it.

Then in 1 Peter 2:9, Peter revealed the elements of our noble birth: 'But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light' (KJV). Look at how God sees us and the names He labelled us. How often do you meditate on these names and answer to them? Or do you see yourself as a common person or an ordinary being? If so, step up to claim your names responsibly and affirmatively.

A chosen generation means that you were selected from the crowd. A peculiar people means that you are different from the crowd. A holy nation means that you're chosen out of the world, dedicated and made sacred for God's service. A royal priesthood means that God added priestly sanctity to your royal nature and dignity.

Beloved, you are the trophy of Christ's victory, you're distinguished by sovereign grace, and you're God's own special treasure, all because of your noble birth and sophisticated bloodline. Hallelujah!

Scripture Reading - John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 5:17; John 5:24; Romans 6:4, 23; 1 Peter 1:3.

Exuberant Declaration: I have the life of God in me, for I have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring Word of God. Therefore, I'm the expression of God's glory, the epitome of God's nature, and the extension of God's grace, wisdom and righteousness on earth. Blessed be God!
