NO CONDEMNATION
WEDNESDAY 26 OCTOBER 2022
I have come to officially announce to you today that you have no business with condemnation if you are in Christ Jesus. It's a certainty remarkably established for us when God raised Christ from the dead. Just as we were raised with Christ from the dead, even so we also should walk in newness of life - a domain where condemnation is absent. Let's find out more!
Reference: Romans 8:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV) "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death."
Brothers and sisters, sincerely there is no condemnation, that is, guilty verdict, blame and punishment, for those who are in Christ Jesus who believe in Him and have accepted Him as their personal Lord and Saviour. For the law of the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has made them free from the law of sin and of death. Therefore, we are not worthy of or subject to sin's punishment or judgment because the nature of sin that brings condemnation has been dealt with in our lives by Christ Jesus, through His atoning sacrifice.
Condemnation is an adverse statement with adverse consequences. It is the Greek word, "katakrínō" which is to judge against someone because he is guilty of wrongdoing or transgression. However, in Christ Jesus, we are no longer condemned, because we are dead to sin and alive to God. For God achieved what the law could not do because it was weakened through the flesh. How? By sending Christ in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin; He condemned sin in the flesh through His death on the cross. However, the referenced verses noted that there are two kinds of Christians, namely - those who walk according to the flesh and those who function according to the Spirit. Those who function according to the Spirit walk fully in newness of life, because they've developed an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.
The Bible says, "We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways]" (Romans 6:4 AMP). I like the amplified version because of the clarity and exactness that come with the rendering. It noted "abandoning the old ways" which means the "life after the flesh". So what is this "newness of life"? Now watch this: Our old way of life, now crucified [dead and buried] with Christ, was entirely sinful. But after Christ was raised from the dead by the glory and power of God, He gave us a new life, and the old life is no more. Therefore, if you walk in newness of life, it means that you are functioning according to the Spirit. And in that realm, there is no such thing as condemnation or entertaining judgmentalism.
Beloved, the law of the life-giving Spirit in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death. Therefore, we have a new life in Christ, which is the life of the Spirit. It's entirely new, because we have risen with the Saviour. Zero wonder Colossians 2:12 says, "Buried with Him in baptism [in which you are also risen with Him through the faith of the working of God, Who raised Him from the dead]" (RGT). Did you get it? We've risen with the Saviour and so, we must walk according to His Spirit. Anytime you hear that a Christian is walking according to the flesh, it simply sounds like going back to the old life he should now be ashamed of. But there is indeed no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - John 8:36; Romans 6:4; Romans 6:18; Romans 7:4.
Guided Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for saving and delivering me from eternal condemnation through Christ. I acknowledge that I was buried with Christ and was raised up to life with him, so I should rise to and walk in newness of life. Therefore I have no connection with the sinful nature and old life which Christ brought to an end in His death. I testify with immense joy that I am absolutely free to serve you in Spirit and in truth, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
