IN GOD, THERE IS NO DARKNESS - PART 2
TUESDAY 13 JUNE 2023
God's light was strongly demonstrated in the blameless and undefiled life of Christ on earth. Hence, believing in Christ is revealing the nature of God to man. And Christ's works of the redemption are entirely trustworthy because it shows forth God's light and glory, which rescue men from the domain of darkness.
Reference: 1 John 1:5 New Living Translation (NLT) "This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all."
The above Scripture is a strong, conclusive expression about God's essence. Apostle John spoke in the tone of divinely-inspired noble utterance, and with a convincing manner, which shows a highly insightful correctness. Every soul that has received Christ by faith has received the light of the heavenly Father - in them. In Christ was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:4-5 ESV).
Beloved, God is that light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot comprehend it because there is no darkness in Him at all. Exodus 15:11 says, "Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you—majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?" (NIV). I've eminently paraphrased God's picture of being majestic in holiness so you can fully grasp the weight of the meaning. The word, "majestic" denotes "extremely impressive and dignified awe." So God being majestic in holiness means that His holiness is of exalted rank, mingled with excellent and august significance.
God is Holy God, who has called us to a holy living. 1st Thessalonians 4:7 reads, "God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives" (NLT). Living a holy life comes with the capacity, the desire, and an active determination or endeavour to realize what is of pleasurable value to God, and the ability to live our lives according to those values. Isaiah 35:8 reads, "And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray" (ESV).
The unclean and evil-minded people will never travel on this highway because it is designed for only those who are right with God, who passionately and decisively walk in His ways. Why so? John 3:19-20 says, "And the judgment is based on this fact: God's light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants" (NLT). Stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!

Guided Prayer: Gracious God, I'm thankful because you did not call me unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. You saved me and called me with a holy calling, not according to my works, but according to your own purpose and grace, which was given me in Christ Jesus before the world began. The empire of your holiness in my heart is based on living according to your Word. Therefore, let your truth continue to shine forth in me in Jesus' Name, Amen!
