HOLY SPIRIT IS THE PROOF
FRIDAY 07 OCTOBER 2022
Our life in Christ Jesus is not a natural one; it consists of a miraculous, indivisible union with Christ. Concerning the Son of God, once you believe in Him and receive Him, He comes to make a home with you, in your heart. Let's find out more regarding this timeless truth.
Reference: 1 John 4:13 New Living Translation (NLT) "And God has given us His Spirit as proof that we live in Him and He in us."
When you receive Christ as Lord, as well as His Spirit in you, something important happens. The Holy Spirit quickens your soul and spirit to have a new disposition and new delight, such that you begin to walk in the newness of life, which is not consistent with the old life, which has gone (see 2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT). By this truth, you can tell that you now belong to God. The Bible says in Romans 8:9 - "You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ" (NIV).
More so, Paul wants us to gain this awareness and live by it. This is found in 1 Corinthians 3:16 which reads, "Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" This kind of knowledge is sweet because it makes us masters in life. I mean that, even in a subject like biology, we learn and understand that there are 78 organ systems and all of them work together to create a state of balance within the body. The Holy Spirit wasn't mentioned because He is unseen in that realm of knowledge, yet He lives in same human body as a result of new birth. So the Bible tells me in 1 Corinthians 6:19: "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own" (NIV).
In Ezekiel 36:27, God said, "I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances" (BSB). Indeed this is the greatest surgery that ever happened during the new birth. God gave us a new heart and installed a new spirit within us. From then onwards, our existence became a superior and supernatural one, sponsored by the indwelling influence of God's eternal spirit. He is the one that causes us to walk in divine statutes because He personally inscribed God's law on the surface of our new heart. No wonder Galatians 5:18 reads, "But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law" (NIV). Got it?
Now we are the "living, coded letters" which are not written with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. And its not something carved on tablets of stone, but on human hearts by the Spirit Himself. Beloved, entertaining such thoughts can blow the human mind. But that's not the more interesting part of what is happening to us on the inside. Watch this: Though we don't see the Holy Spirit in person, we have such an account of faith and practice based on His inner workings. The Bible says, "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God" (ESV). So God's Spirit mingles with our spirits and confirms who we really are.
For this reason, we know who God is, and we know who we are: Father and children, because the Holy Spirit sends us regular inward notification and reminder that we are God's own children. He is indeed the point of consummation between us and God. No wonder Paul the apostle wrote, "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God" (Romans 8:14 ESV). The Holy Spirit makes us superior to the rest of the world because by this gift of the Spirit, the sovereign God anoints and seals us, which serves as a proof that we live in Him and He in us.
In order to keep in touch with this truth on a regular basis, Ephesians 5:18 tells us what to do: "Don't be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit" (NLT). It tells us that because it is always an earnest, life-changing and far-reaching opportunity to engage in exclusive conversations with divinity and function according to divine plan because we belong to God. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Romans 5:5; Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2 Timothy 1:14.
Exuberant Declaration: As a true child of God, I have the Holy Spirit in me and I function under His operations. I have the seal and earnest of the Spirit, because I have been sealed by the Spirit. I'm partaker of the divine nature because I belong to God. Hallelujah!
