DIVINE EQUIPMENT

Divine equipment is the term for the process of supplying someone with necessary equipment for divine purpose. The accomplishment of any assignment God has given us relies on His provision of whatever we need in order to fulfil the purpose of that assignment. So the writer of today's referenced Scripture prays for the supply of all divine equipment necessary for us to accomplish His will, and the desire in us to live a life that is pleasing to God with a clear conscience.

Reference: Hebrews 13:21 New Living Translation (NLT) "may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen."

Apart from God working in us according to His will, He is the One that equips us with all we need for doing His will. He makes us perfect in every good work to do his will, working in us that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:13 reads, "For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good purpose." So true. God's Spirit in us gives us the desire to live for the Lord and equips us to work for His purpose.

Equipment in Greek translation is the word, "exoplismós". It suggests outfit, rig, commission and armament. Divine equipment is likened to a military strength, weapons or arms. It furnishes us with might for every good work and for the fulfilment of purpose. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV), "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds". In this verse, the word, "mighty" is worthy of notice. When we are fortified by God with the right equipment or weaponry, we become mighty in accomplishing whatever He is doing in us and through us.

This means that divine equipment represents the Spirit of might. The Spirit of might is the Spirit of execution and accomplishment. It transcends or excels beyond any form of physical power. We can never fulfil God's dream and purpose by any physical means. So it is the Spirit of might that empowers us to do His will and it's one of the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, according to the book of Isaiah (see Isaiah 11:1-2). Our opening Scripture noted it as the power of Jesus Christ. Through the power of Christ (the Spirit of might), the man of God is supernaturally endowed, fully complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work.

When the Holy Spirit is actively working in us, we are enabled to do mighty things and great exploits. He is the very expression of the presence of God in you and with you, and His might is expressed in various ways. He overrides any human infirmity and sustains our spiritual strength (see Romans 8:26 KJV). He overshadows our physical senses and makes it irrelevant, by raising our spiritual antenna and heightening our spiritual senses. The Holy Spirit is not normal; He is far above the description of normalcy. So He always equips us above the ordinary and produces in us, every good thing that is pleasing to God and worthy of His purpose.

2 Corinthians 9:8 noted that God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. This knowledge empowers us to count and depend on God to make all grace abound to us. Gracefully, He does it in a way that we have "enough" equipment at all times so we can accomplish the good works He is doing through us.

Guided Prayer: Precious Father, I'm forever grateful for having ordained me to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ and for fortifying me with all I need for doing your will. Thank you for the daily supply of divine equipment for the work of service. Thus I'm thoroughly furnished and well equipped for every good work, to the building up of the body of Christ, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
