BORN OF GOD - PART 1

FRIDAY 11 JULY 2025

I'm introducing a new topic, namely Born of God. More below!

Reference: John 1:12-13 New International Version (NIV)

"Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God."

The central figure in the above versified reference is Christ Jesus, in whom all that are saved can become the children of God. So in our referenced Scripture, Johannine literature emphasizes Christ's divine nature and origin which is God.

God, having given Christ to be the Saviour of the world, offered Him as the true light that gives light to everyone coming into this world. However, He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. "His own" here denotes humankind from His earthly origin or His place of nativity, born of natural descent.

As for all who have received the Lord, those who believed in His name, Jesus Christ Himself gave them the right to become children of God. If we are among those who have received Christ, then we have been saved by Him. Moreover, we must give up ourselves to be ruled and raised by Him - through the means of active submission to His Lordship. And here is the great eternal benefit: Whoever believes in Christ, and wholly submits to His Lordship shall not perish, but shall have everlasting life.

How do people receive Christ, and believe in His name?

God is in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, and in doing so, He saves those that receive Christ as Saviour and Lord, and believe in His name. Are there people who receive Christ, and do not believe in His name? Is it a possible reality? Yes, there are people who have received Christ, but do not believe in His name, which implies that such Christians can go through other means to get what they want.

Some Christians do not believe in His name enough to put their wholehearted trust in the name, and receive all their expectations from Him and in His name alone; hence the right to function as God's own children is actively missing in their Christian walk. Got it? They can even trust in other religious figures that are non-christians, simultaneously.

Moreover, the main reality is that God cannot save anyone, except through Christ because there is no salvation in any other. To that effect, Acts 4:12 (AMP) reads, "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among people by which we must be saved [for God has provided the world no alternative for salvation]."

So How do people receive Christ?

If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9 WEB). In other words, you'll receive Him in the prescribed manner, for in Him there is salvation. From all this is shown the origin of true Christian believers; He that believes in Christ is not born of human decision or a husband's will, but is born of God. Stay tuned for the successive parts of this wonderful topic. Shalom!
