BLESSINGS ON THE HEAD OF THE RIGHTEOUS
THURSDAY 30 SEPTEMBER 2021
For every born again Christian, all of God's grace, blessings and goodness are directed towards him. God's people are blessed and righteous people. The righteous are those living righteously, not based on self-effort - but by the Spirit, and according to the righteous laws or Biblical principles. In short, the righteous live by spontaneous flow of the inner life of Christ.
Reference: Proverbs 10:6 New International Version (NIV) "Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked."
Indeed, blessings are on the head of the righteous. The writer penned this down with literary effusions that there is a pronouncement of the blessings on the righteous. These blessings are like an authority or dignity symbolized by a crown. In addition, this passage is very instructive because it opens our eyes to who is who. The blessings confer a great value, dignity and excellence on the righteous, which evidently separate them from the wicked.
Interestingly, when things are going well with us, we are very quick to think that we are blessed because of the condition or favourable circumstance. However the Bible says, "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ" (Ephesians 1:3 NLT). Permanently, the blessings have been conferred upon us by God. Moreover, did you notice that God did not bless the righteous based on any condition or circumstance? The only reason is because of Christ. As the new creation, we are one with Christ and its our permanent position or reality, not a condition subject to change. For this reason, we are supremely blessed.
This blessing is a divine fountain from the heavenly realms. In other words, its the realm through which we possess them. Ephesians 2:6 says, "And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus" (NIV). As a result of Christ's finished work on the cross, God made us alive with Christ. So being one with Christ Jesus is living as an expression of the nature of God as Jesus is. This implies that the righteous has a recreated human spirit manifesting deity because of his spiritual union with Christ. As so, the blessing is directed towards us as a result of our oneness with the Person of Christ.
The righteous has an everlasting sure foundation because of being united with Christ, and the Holy Spirit gives us insight into the realm of these blessings we've been born into, such that we know how to access them. By growing in the life, knowledge and character of Christ, we can go deeper into the meaning and understanding of this blessing which empowers us to prosper.
What is our responsibility as the righteous? We must develop a sense of self-awareness of the blessings and become fixed in that approach to life. Think about this: The Bible says, "The memory of the righteous is blessed" (Proverbs 10:7 NKJV). In other words, the righteous has a mindset conditioned to think God's blessings. The interior of their mindset denotes memory-knowledge filled with the blessings. They can't imagine or reason otherwise. They can't think "curses" because the texture of their mindset is already decorated with an apt understanding of the blessings, owing to the peculiarity of their identity in Christ.
Beloved, you are an embodiment of divine blessing in its fullness and completeness. You carry the excess or abundance of God inside of you because the Bible says, "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us" (2 Corinthians 4:7 NKJV). You are in earthen vessel, yet you contain this great and priceless treasure in its manifold variety. Simply put, you are too loaded on the inside, for you've been called to inherit the blessings in Christ.
Now how do you activate this blessing? The Bible says, "The mouth of the righteous is a well of life …" (Proverbs 10:11 KJV). Therefore, begin to declare: "I'm full of the blessings of God. As the noble seed of Abraham, I'm blessed beyond measure and I'm a huge blessing to my world; I'm a package deal of God's goodness and a personification of generational blessings." Living daily with these declarations and consciousness will programme you to walk in the reality of the blessings. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - Psalm 1:1-3; Proverbs 4:20-22; Jeremiah 17:7-8; Psalm 91:9-11; 2 Corinthians 9:8; 2 Peter 1:3.
Exuberant Declaration: I am a mega success in walking in God's favour and the beneficiary of Abrahamic overabundant and generational blessings. In Christ Jesus, God showers on me unlimited blessings and they make me rich and wealthy, void of sorrow. No matter the situation, I wear the blessings like a fitted jewelled crown, reminding me of the goodness of God and propelling me to prosper and to make progress in every aspect of my life. Hallelujah!
