A voice crying repentance prepares the way for the Lord to come to mankind and for His glory to be revealed, which is the most radiant thing that ever happened to earth and on earth.
Therefore, I have chosen the topic, "A highway for our God" in order to help us delve into the supernatural effects that accompanied the voice crying in the wilderness, which prepared the hearts of men for an unusual experience (the Lord's earthly manifestation) that has remained incised on the memories of all mankind in this day and age, due to His irreplaceable presence on planet earth.
Reference: Isaiah 40:3 New International Version (NIV)
"A voice of one calling: In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken."
It was one particular authentic voice, belonging to a sent man. According to our referenced Scripture, where is the location of the voice? In the wilderness! What is the assignment? To prepare the way for the Lord in the desert, and to make the way a levelled highway for the Lord.
How will the "sent" accomplish a level highway? By rearranging the structure of every valley, mountain and rough ground. In other words, the sent will fill in the valleys, level off the mountains, smooth out the ruts and clear out the rocks. Are you with me? Then what next? The glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. Simply put, when the glory of the Lord shines, everyone will see it, just as God has declared. This is largely or highly significant, considering the vastness of human witnesses, which has signalled a lasting hope and impression to this day. Hallelujah!
To expound our versified reference and stretch it forward till the upshot of this wonderful topic, via the subsequent or successive parts coming soon, I have decided to split our specified Scriptural passage into 3 segments for penetrable acuity.
1. A voice of one calling: In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
2. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.
3. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.
The "sent" as a forerunner exuded the character of a good, humble man. The Almighty sent a man, committed to inviolable truth, who functioned with ardent integrity, and lived a life of self-denial. Hence, regardless of his world of wilderness living, which was full of frenetic passion and inhospitable activities, he brought forth the light of divine preparation successfully, and by the virtue of accurate perception, he ushered in - the era of Christ's earthly ministry, the true Saviour, revealed in human flesh, whose coming conferred on the chosen, the righteousness of God.
John 1:14 reads, "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" (NIV). Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!
