A GENEROUS MAN - PART 1

WEDNESDAY 18 DECEMBER 2024

I am introducing a new topic, namely, a generous man. Generosity is a calling for the godly who have given themselves to the liberty of living considerately and selflessly, without disregarding the wants and needs of others. And this sort of calling comes with the gift of ability to execute it. More below!

Reference: Isaiah 32:8 New King James Version (NKJV)

"But a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand."

No generous Christian is at liberty to live for himself or to disregard the needs of others, as long as they are in position to be a blessing. This implies that the spirit at work in a generous man dominates any perverse spirit of selfishness, and produces a benevolent regard in such individual for the welfare, joy and happiness of others.

Every responsible man on earth has good plans, plus wonderful thoughts and profitable intentions, which in many ways, they have the right to devise, develop and manifest, but significantly, our referenced Scripture is punctilious to a generous man who is considered noble in his ways, because he particularly devises generous things.

Have you noticed that people often complain about a stingy person because he or she does not sustain the desire to give to others as we think they ought to? It is possible that a stingy person may have good intentions, but is always keen in exhibiting strict and unkind behavioural concerns that conform to a miserly or scrooge-like lifestyle, because he is captiously stubborn and emphatically disapproving when it comes to the welfare of other people; an unconcerned attitude towards the poor and needy that focuses on self-interest motivated reasoning - which can be traceable to the person's upbringing, association, mentality, personality or family background.

Beloved, nothing is more odious than a stingy person that displays insouciant inclination in the matters pertaining the need of others, due to self-centredness. Such attitude is quite disobliging and unempathetic. But a generous person always endeavours to take on the character of God. In other words, in being generous, you are acting as a true child of your Father in heaven. For He gives His sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike (see Matthew 5:45 NLT). Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Proverbs 19:17; Proverbs 22:9; Luke 6:38; Galatians 2:6.

Guided Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I bless and honour you today, by acknowledging that you are not a fault-finder when it pertains to giving munificently to your children. Your angels from heaven always shower me with good and perfect gifts, and you dress my life in a manner that is beautiful and befitting to the purpose and pleasure of your perfect will. Thank you for the gift and generosity of your Spirit dwelling in me, who has furnished me with righteousness and divine strength, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
