The Abaco architectural studio designed and built a project in a private home in Mira, a town in the Venetian hinterland, redrawing the internal layout and featuring the use of stone supplied by Grassi Pietre both for the interiors and the portico. In the entrance area, large 3 cm thick elliptically shaped slabs act as a woven decorative pattern tracing the oval shape of the room.
The Giallo Dorato version of Pietra of Vicenza was used for all the flooring in the living area. It features 40 and 60 cm wide, variable length formats, honed and Ca’Pietra treated with oil and water stain repellent; the stone promotes continuity in the adjacent areas and acts as a neutral element for about 200 mq of flooring and another 100 mq of wall covering (for the bathroom, living area and stairs).

The kitchen is separate from the large living area, stairs and the storeroom by high sliding doors, that are contained in a central panel where is setting a TV screen. The stair structure (solid blocks of L-shaped stone) was also covered in Giallo Dorato to give unity to the area opening towards the living room and the hall; the wall between the flight is covered by wide stone and seems like a monolithic block where are places the steps.
The same material was also used to build the two modern fireplaces in the living room and attic, with a Pietra di Vicenza basement and three stone blocks that form a trilithic structure. In the bathroom of the night area the covered stone and the shower flat is combined in harmonious way with wengè furniture; in the night area there is a durmast whiten floor. Biancone di Asiago marble featuring a manually scratch tumbled, brushed and starched finish, was installed diagonally in the portico area, in classical style.
Once again, the masterful use of tried and tested techniques has adapted Pietra of Vicenza to various architectural and functional requirements, within the sphere Ca’Pietra of continuity of tradition though promoting a significant design development for the innovative and diversified use of materials in architecture.
