"I would say [the roadmap is] probably slightly more modest than in the past because we're focused on a couple of key areas within Madden 22 and also getting underway on Madden 23 in a big way," Graddy said at the time Madden 22 coins. "So I'm going to stand by what we've always said the last couple of years that we're a live service and we'll be continuing to upgrade the game but we're certainly not going to be discussing a brand new mode."

The report received attention due to the fact that franchise mode is a topic of contention with certain Madden players. In reality, the promised roadmap originally was a response the campaign fixmaddenfranchise that was circulating on Twitter between mid-2020. It started after reports suggested that EA did not plan improvements to franchise mode at the time.

Since then, EA has released new commissioner tools and also other enhancements as well as a major overhaul of their scouting systems. Madden 22 also introduced an enhanced scenario engine, season-long cutscenes and coaching skill trees. Fans continue to identify various areas in which franchise mode has the potential to improve compared to the competition, from the very limited customization to the myriad bugs.

While EA Sports wouldn't provide any specifics, other improvements are expected at an upcoming date. The changes could include franchise relocation enhancements promised in the original plan of Madden 22. Expect more details in 2022.
