YOUR WORDS MAKE YOU

In the world we live, just as good things happen, bad things happen as well, because it is a broken world. You may not always choose the things you encounter. Other people may not always choose what they come across. We all get to face new challenges, great encounters and diverse experiences, as each day passes by, but what makes the difference in how we react to our experiences, is our words.

Reference: Proverbs 18:21 Good News Translation (GNT)

'What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words.'

What does this verse mean for us all? It means that our words are not ordinary. It's easy to think your life is defined by what happens around you or to you. But the truth is that your life is defined by the words you declare about yourself.

A lot of people have the wrong perspective about God. They know God planned their existence and has a purpose for their lives, but they have the wrong idea that every detail of life is preplanned. They believe they have no part to play in actualizing their purpose. Yes, God has a plan and a purpose for your life, but it's not automatic. You can identify with the plan and establish your purpose with the very words you utter.

God will never force you to enjoy the plan He has for you, but He gives you the choice to embrace His plan. He gives you the choice to accept and act on His word. He gives you the opportunity to follow or ignore the purpose for which you were created. Do you know that in this very Scripture, John 3:16, God demonstrated His love for the world by giving His only begotten Son? At what terms and condition?, 'That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.' What does this mean? If you believe, you will have eternal life; if you don't you won't. So it's your choice, not God's choice; He has made the provision. Then it gets even more interesting: to accept Him, you must confess with your mouth, the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that He's alive. So what you say counts; it is what establishes His Lordship in your life.

Far too many people miss the purpose of their life as a result of their tongue, because whether or not you believe it, your life goes in direction of yours words. When you encounter any situation, or when something happens in your life, understand this: what happens to you is not nearly as important as how you responds to the situation with words. Some people are built up through adverse situations. Other people are broken by them, for the same reason- the words they confess. For some people, a bad experience is a stumbling block. For others, it's a stepping-stone. Why? Because of what they say about themselves while going through the experience.

If you take two people with different belief system and put them in the exact same situation, one may succeed while the other fails. Why? It is mainly because of the words that come out of their mouth, and the choices they make, which in turn, influence their outcomes. Words are powerful because they have creative or destructive powers. You can control your life's circumstances with words and decide the end results of any situation with words.

Guided Prayer:

Gracious Father, thank you for enlightening me through your Word to know that the tongue has incredible power. I'm inspired the more to speak words of life, success, victory, abundance, healing and health, over my life today and always. I'm full of the Word and its life is active in my inner man. Your Word in me, jumps off the pages of my heart through my declarations, to establish Godly results in my life; thus my life is the manifestation of the Word. All of nature treasure and respond to my words for good, because the power of God impregnates it with creative ability- to develop and invent great ideas, and dynamic ability- to cause positive changes. Thank you Lord, for your Word that endures forever in Jesus' Name, Amen!
