WITH ALL YOUR HEART

MONDAY 10 JANUARY 2022

The issues of life are inevitable, but how we handle them is dependent on condition of our hearts. This is why Proverbs 4:23 (NKJV) reads, "Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life." So trusting God with all our heart is not automatic in the Christian because a lot goes on in the heart of man. This means that a full trust in the Lord requires a discipline of the human mind and will.

Reference: Proverbs 3:5 English Standard Version (ESV) "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."

This Scripture is introducing you to the wisdom of two support systems, namely, the Lord and your own understanding. In life, you need support and the support is either spiritual or natural. Spiritual support that comes from the Lord is stable, consistent, reliable and predictable. But human understanding which can be defined in terms of one's intelligence, human perception, common sense, resources, potential and opinion can be shallow and not always reliable because of limited vision or wisdom.

The secret of your continuous victory in life is dependent on your support system. For instance, whenever you exercise your faith in what God says, it is an active trust in God. In other words, your trust in God is in use, up and running or fully operational. But reliance on human understanding, whether its yours or on worldly wisdom, can render your trust in God inactive. As a born again Christian, the flesh, earthly concerns and the world-system will always fight for your attention, so as to rely on them and everything other than God and His Word. But the Word warns us saying, "do not lean on your own understanding."

"To lean on your understanding" is to depend on it for support. If as a Christian, you live in this manner, you will entertain worry, frustration and anxiety in the process and eventually live a life of trial and error, which is not God's best for you. 2 Corinthians 3:5 (NLT) says, "It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God." God wants us to have the right understanding, discernment, mental stability and acumen that result in fulfilment and abundant life. But its only through living a life of faith that we can trust God actively and then experience the blessings that belong to us in Christ.

Our trust in God must be exercised with "all our heart" and with a view to receiving a direction, solution, benefit and good success. No wonder King Solomon affirmed that if we trust and acknowledge God in all our ways, He shall direct our paths (Proverbs 3:6 NKJV). The Lord knows the best route for you because no one else in this world understands you better than God. This is why He asked you to choose to rely and count on Him in order to show you the exact path to take.

Many a time the right route for solution, lasting promotion and success is never detected or perceived by human understanding. And its possible to know God's Word concerning a situation or a desire in your heart and yet not benefit from it. Why? Lack of application of the knowledge of the Word due to human understanding which is so limited. Therefore learn to trust in the Lord with all your heart, and put it to work by applying the Word in every matter and situation that arise in your life. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Proverbs 23:19; Psalm 37:4-5; Isaiah 26:3; Jeremiah 17:7-8; Philippians 4:6.

Exuberant Declaration: I trust in the Lord with all my heart and my faith is based on divine perspective. I produce mental and emotional stability as I orient my thoughts in direct sync with divine realities through constant meditation on God's Word and quality time in prayer. The Word flows freely within the stream of my consciousness, permeating all aspects of my life. Thus the desires of my heart are swiftly granted as I apply the Word to my life and circumstances. Blessed be God!
