WHO IS BEHIND YOUR WORDS? - PART 1

WEDNESDAY 13 DECEMBER 2023

Our words are of dominant importance because we are the children of the Most High. In a nutshell, any child of God who has positive and godly influence over any number of people will always be conscious of the impact of their chosen words. The details of our words can express our inner thoughts and the source of our inspiration, which convey the real "us" - very accurately. So as a Spirit-filled born again Christian, declaring certain things can have both immediate and unseen consequences.

Reference: John 12:49 Amplified Bible (AMP)

"For I have never spoken on My own initiative or authority, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment regarding what to say and what to speak."

Jesus wisely said this about His own words, "For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak." In doing so, He affirmed that He firmly believed in the total inspiration from the Father, which was always evident in His speech. To start with, the men who wrote the Bible were irresistibly carried along by the Spirit of God who inspired them, so that their words were not their own. The Word of God, being the eternal truth, found expression through them because they yielded their mind and spirit to the governing influence of God's Spirit.

Who is behind the words that you speak? Have you trained your spirit to allow God to always speak through your mouth, by the Holy Spirit? An expression of words signalling divine wisdom, as inspired by the Spirit, is highly relevant for our well being and more so, for the comfort and salvation of others. In Acts 4:23-31, Peter and John, with other saints, raised their voices together in prayer to God, and the main subject of their prayer was for God to enable them to speak His Word with boldness. The Bible says, "After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly" (Verse 31). Simply put, their gut-energized speech illustrates the importance of engaging the influence of the Holy Spirit on a very overwhelming level, for the boldness of speech.

In Acts 14:3, the Bible says, "So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who affirmed the message of His grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders" (NIV). This implies that their words were not ordinary information because they weren't backed by human beings but by the Lord as they spoke for Him. As a result, His grace accompanied their message, thereby positioning them to exert the miraculous. Beloved, I have personally considered God's Word as His power, thoughts and disposition, which He reveals through our words as His Spirit enables us.

The Holy Spirit plays an important role in the speech of every serious Christian. Think about His importance this way: Going back to the very beginning, it was the Spirit of God that was seen at work in the creation. Genesis 1:1-2 says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters" (NIV). So the Spirit of God, moving upon the face of the waters, was instrumental in bringing about all of creation we see today. Within the aura of His movement, God began to speak the entire creation into being. If His Spirit made the creation beautiful, the same Spirit can make your words beautiful and gracious to hearers.

In addition, from the above revelation, we can understand that God's Word is a reflection of His Spirit and perspective. And it is such a blessing that in the Bible, we have the written Word (Logos), so that we might understand God's Spirit and His revealed mind. However, it is a greater blessing when we daily get filled with this greatest Author, the Spirit of truth, so He can always champion our words effectively. Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!

Guided Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I have come to understand that evil words destroy, but the mouth of the righteous is a tree of life. My inspiration comes directly from your Spirit, and as I receive your mind and thoughts through the Word, I'm empowered by the Spirit to express them in my words, which in turn, become a huge blessing to all in my world and a miraculous healing to their souls. Thank you Lord for an increased frequency of faith-filled expressions from my lips, and the glorious effects, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
