WHAT A GOD!
SATURDAY 19 MARCH 2022
The Psalmist says in Psalm 18:30 (MSG) - "What a God! His road stretches straight and smooth. Every GOD-direction is road-tested. Everyone who runs toward him makes it." This is so true! God's way is unquestionably perfect and well proven. Indeed, He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
Reference: 2 Samuel 22:30-32 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC) "For by You I run through a troop; by my God I leap over a wall. As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried. He is a Shield to all those who trust and take refuge in Him. For who is God but the Lord? And who is a Rock except our God?"
What a God! For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? What a God! Beloved, is there any god like God? David continues, "Are we not at bedrock? Is not this the God who arms us well, then aimed us in the right direction? Now I run like a deer; I'm king of the mountain. He shows me how to fight; I can bend a bronze bow! He protects me with salvation-armor; He touches me and I feel ten feet tall." These are awesome testimonies from the very mouth of the Psalmist, acknowledging that the Lord is gracious to him.
God is always at work in the life, sphere of activities and entire generation of the righteous and He shames the counsel of the wicked on behalf of the righteous. If you have had several personal encounters with God, nobody can argue that the testimonies of His goodness play a significant role in divine knowing. Your testimony is of paramount importance in your Christian walk because they serve as sources of justification and assurance that God is your rock, support, pillar and salvation.
A testimony deserves great recognition because it is the evidence of acknowledging God's help in your life. When a hearer pays attention to the content of a good testimony, they accept it by analysing the problem the testifier encountered and by the virtue of the appropriate reason it happened - followed by the testimony, it gives them the advantage to trust and believe God for theirs! Some testimonies involve the process of great challenges faced and the evidence of how God came through for the testifier or attester.
In the personal testimonies of King David as a victor, although his courage and persistence worked for him in the face of adversity, He acknowledged that God armed him with such military skills and victory. He says, "For by You I run through a troop; by my God I leap over a wall." Understand that these troops were soldiers or armed forces who came together in their large numbers to challenge, subdue and overpower David. But David was victorious over them, as well as being able to jump great heights or areas protected by fortified walls - with success. Now this powerful exercise is used to demonstrate that we do not possess the ability to accomplish such victory; it is not a miracle of our own making but God's ability.
When God is involved in that matter, you must maintain an unshakable trust in His ability to prevail through you because every person backed up by God is superior to whatever comes their way. Everyone who genuinely walks with God always prevails, come what may. No wonder the Bible says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV). God is ever present in the company of the righteous but we must engage His manifest presence by constant fellowship because we are limited in our senses and understanding. The wisdom is this: Our competence comes from God (2 Corinthians 3:5 ESV). So in God, there is no occasion for defeat but victory all the way. What a God! Shalom!
Scripture Reading - Proverbs 18:10; Psalm 18:32-36; Habakkuk 3:19; 1 Corinthians 15:10.
Exuberant Declaration: The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my stronghold; my God, my shield, the horn of my salvation and my High tower. Lord, you are my keen and firm strength; in you I trust. My competency flows from God; my strength originates from Him. As I express my confidence in Him always, the habit of my mind is Christ's victory. I'm a triumphant Christian and my testimonies are instrumental in conveying the goodness of God to those around me. Hallelujah!
