WE HAVE COME TO SHARE IN CHRIST

SATURDAY 10 JULY 2021

If you are in Christ Jesus and you are being led by the Spirit of God in all things, then this is a sign that you've come to share in Christ. That means, you are a person of inheritance in Christ and a partaker of the divine nature. Therefore, sharing in Christ is among the many reasons we have and demonstrate our faith in God.

Reference: Hebrews 3:14 English Standard Version (ESV) "For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end."

The Hebrews' writer is encouraging us as Christians never to forfeit our original confidence that assures us access to all spiritual blessings because God Himself delights in giving us inheritance (James 1:17). For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end. The Bible says, "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). Scriptures like this empower us with the truth that all our inheritance is sure because as children of God, we are heirs of the Kingdom and joint-heirs with Christ. We don't have to worry about partaking of our Kingdom inheritance because we already have it in our spiritual account in Christ Jesus - as heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ.

Beloved, it is from God that our inheritance comes, and we share in it with Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:22 (NLT) confirms this, "and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us." The Holy Spirit is the reason Christians can be confident that our inheritance in Christ is sure, no matter the circumstances of our lives. In short, He is the deposit, guaranteeing our inheritance. However we have a responsibility to hold our original confidence firm to the end. In other words, we must never lose faith or stop trusting God because spiritual blessings can truly be appropriated by those who are steadfast in faith.

Hebrews 10:35-36 (NIV) reads, "So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised." Beloved, you must strengthen your confidence that is in Jesus Christ and stay diligent in trusting God during your times of expectation. You will always inherit the promised inheritance at the right time, through exercised faith. Even in the face of challenges and the unknown, you must hold fast to your trust in God for the manifestation of His Word in any area of your life (2 Corinthians 4:18 ). This is because holding firm to your original confidence is a necessary antecedent to sharing in Christ, and the reward of steadfast faith is great.

This confidence is the Greek word, "empistosýni" which in this article context, denotes firm trust and reliance in God's faithfulness. It is the voice of inward certainty or firm conviction that God will come through for you, as you do His will. Beloved, soak yourself in the Word and allow it to strengthen your confidence, no matter the trials you go through or the challenges you face, bearing in mind that expressing diligent faith in God moves those spiritual blessings and inheritance from the spiritual realm to your earthly reality. Shalom!

Guided Prayer: Thank you Father in heaven because in the spiritual dimension, you've already given me everything I need in life, which comes through my faith in Christ Jesus. I receive them by holding my confidence firm in Christ and by developing and expressing my faith in your Word. Every now and then, I see the manifestations of your promises in my life and I rejoice that I'm a living expression of your glory and excellence in my world, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
