TO SHOW US HIS GRACE

FRIDAY 21 MAY 2021

Did you know that God had a plan to reveal His grace to mankind? And this plan was in His mind even before the beginning of time. The golden news today is that Christ Jesus is the revelation and manifestation of God's grace. And from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

Reference: 2 Timothy 1:9 New Living Translation (NLT) "For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time - to show us his grace through Christ Jesus."

Beloved, God saved us and called us to a holy life - not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and plan which He had in mind before the beginning of time. What is His plan and purpose? To show us His grace through Christ Jesus. This is why this grace was given us in Christ Jesus. Romans 10:4 (NLT) reads: "For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in Him are made right with God." Since no one could fulfil all the dictates of the law successfully, Christ came and accomplished it all for us, thereby offering us grace which made it possible for us to be reconciled to God. In other words, the grace of God was revealed and embodied in Christ Jesus (John 1:14 NIV).

Again, part of our referenced Scripture reads: For God saved us and called us to live a holy life and He did this, not because we deserved it. In other words, we must all acknowledge that our salvation did not come by our performance or gifts, but by the by grace and calling of God. In fact, Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT) spells it clearly: "God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it."

What is the main purpose of God's grace? It calls us to holy living. "For God saved us and called us to live a holy life" (see referenced Scripture). Also Paul tells us, "the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives"(Titus 2:11). Beloved, God gave us His grace to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

This means, grace is designed to transform our desires and cravings, intentions, and behaviours uprightly, and condition us to do God's will and please Him. Never underestimate the power of God's grace because it's an uncommon revelation that motivates and empowers us to live a holy and godly Christian life, thereby becoming a model of rectitude. Shalom!
