TO INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE - PART 2

SATURDAY 22 JANUARY 2022

Eternal life is given to a man to live and demonstrate the life of the Spirit on earth. It signalizes the reign of God from within, which every born again Christian is experiencing right now. Although some Christians have failed to realize that eternal life is their inheritance right now on earth because they have been taught to wait for it until the return of Christ, I am here to announce to you that as the saint, there is so much life of God in you and you can live it out here and now. Once you receive Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord, His life begins to manifest and reign in you instantly, such that you'll begin to fully experience the supernatural life now. Join me in today's article because I trust God that it will change your whole perspective about eternal life.

Reference: Mark 10:17 New Living Translation (NLT) "As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to Him, knelt down, and asked, Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life."

What must I do to inherit eternal life? This is the most needful question that will continually matter in the history of mankind - from generation to generation. Everyone born of a woman needs to answer this question at some point in their lifetime (in fact, as early as possible) and do what it takes if they must see and enter the Kingdom of God. Eternal life is what positions us to cross over to the realm of eternity at the end of time. And it is a decision and action you have to take that would guarantee your immortal right to live forever with God. "What must I do" means there's an action to take.

From all eternity God saw the need for the salvation of mankind in order to inherit eternal life. Then God Himself took action first. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16 NIV). By taking the action of demonstrating the greatest unconditional love, God gave us His Son as a sin offering, and so through His death and resurrection comes everlasting life. Now the Bible says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8 NIV). Moreover, every living soul needs to respond to this love and I'm coming to that.

God did not provide eternal life in a variety of ways but through one way. That way is recorded in John 14:6 (NIV): Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." The Bible also says, "Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12 BSB). With this view in place, we can assert that the purpose for Christ's incarnation, death and resurrection was to provide eternal life to humanity. Therefore, through our salvation in Christ, we experience the reality that God incarnates Himself and manifests His life in man, regardless of any much speculated "future age" eternal life. Automatically, eternal life becomes a "present-moment" possession once Christ Jesus comes to dwell in any man.

Jesus says, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again" (John 3:3 NIV). Are you born again? This is another question that affords you the opportunity to inherit eternal life. You don't to have beg for forgiveness of sin or cry out for deliverance from the power of sinful nature to really become born again and have eternal life. Because of Christ's sacrifice, His blood poured out on the altar of the Cross to free you of penalties and punishments designed for all your misdeeds and trespasses. For this reason, you are not just barely free but abundantly free to receive your salvation with ease.

To inherit eternal life, Romans 10:9-10 (NET) says: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and thus has righteousness and with the mouth one confesses and thus has salvation. This is the surest way to receive the remission of sins, embrace salvation in Christ and inherit eternal life. Acts 10:43 (NIV) reads, "All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name." Shalom!

Guided Prayer: Dear Father in heaven, I thank and honour you today for your precious gift which is eternal life. Through my salvation in Christ, I have the enduring and permanent witness that I've been delivered from the power of sin and darkness and established as a free and holy person under the rule of God and reign of Christ as Lord. Thus, eternal life is my present-moment possession and I live the Spirit life now. I'm daily led and set apart for your work of inspiration and eternal purpose by the Spirit in Jesus' Name, Amen!
