THE WORD OF LIFE
TUESDAY 09 AUGUST 2022
The word of life is the truth that guides us into direct experience of the divine life on earth and it is very clear that today's Scripture below wants us to express the divine life of God as true Christians. Through the word of life, we are conditioned to gain God's perspective as evidenced in the Bible and to function correspondingly. The God who created the universe wants to share His divine life with us, and so, by living by His life, we can express Him because He specifically made us for this purpose. Therefore, since we were born again with the life of God, it is very important that we master the divine life and live it out richly. However, to do so, or to demonstrate His life here on earth, we must hold fast to the word of life.

Reference: Philippians 2:15-16 New International Version (NIV) "....children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation." Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life."
We called out of the world and transferred into the Kingdom of God. For this reason, we are being raised as children of God who are positioned to function without blemish in the midst of a morally crooked and spiritually perverted generation. God wants us to be seen as bright lights [beacons shining out clearly] in the world of darkness, living by the word of life and offering it to everyone.
What is the word of life? The word of life is our spiritual balanced diet that helps us to translate our new birth in Christ into actions. Jesus said that the words He speaks are words that contain Spirit and life. John 6:63 revealed His words saying, "The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life" (NLT). Here Jesus is communicating a wonderful picture of the relation between Him and the words He speaks, which is designed to stand well as a pattern for the development of our Christian faith.
The word of life is the source of our spiritual strength which comes as faith is communicated to our spirit. The word of life will influence the way a Christian thinks and his attitude, as well as, affect the way he lives out his faith. Furthermore, exercising our faith in the Word of life, and through the Spirit, will strengthen us with might in the inward man. When we give practical attention to the Word of life, we experience the uprightness of conscience, and function in the holiness of life and conversation. This is why our referenced Scripture noted that by it (holding firmly to the word of life), we live clean, innocent lives as children of God, thereby shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
Holding your gaze on the word of life gives life to everything you do or get involved in. In other words, it guarantees and sustains your progress in all aspects of life. Giving yourself to the word of life, means that your life will be decorated with power, health and fruitfulness through the influence of the Word. That way, you live a life governed and sustained by the Holy Spirit, and aimed at glorifying God because God ensures that we experience His life-sustaining presence through His Word. Beloved, why is apostle Paul laying great emphasis on holding firmly the word of life? This is because if you neglect it and fail to commit to it, you are likely to drift away from your faith. Remember that the Bible says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17 NKJV). Therefore it is your responsibility to sustain your Christian faith and live the glorious life on earth by paying attention to the word of life. Shalom!
