THE WORD IS AT WORK IN YOU

SATURDAY 3 JULY 2021

Paul was impressed by the faithfulness of the Thessalonian Christians in receiving the Word of God, and thus he thanked God on their behalf, commending them for accepting it as divine. He also encouraged, comforted and urged them to continue to live their lives worthy of God, who called them into His Kingdom and glory.

Reference: 1 Thessalonians 2:13 English Standard Version (ESV) "And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers."

Before the Word of God can work in us, it must be received, believed and accepted as the Word of God. Although it has the ability to work inside of us and bear fruits, if our hearts are not cultivated as a good soil, it won't be able to receive the Word (see Matthew 13:8). Fruit-bearing cannot take place without the Word being received as a seed. First, we need to receive the Word with meekness, and second, believe that the Word is alive and active, then we will be able to bear fruit. The Word works in us according to its principles, ordinances and revelations. They are the basic set of rules that controls how it works in our lives.

Thessalonian Christians accepted what Paul taught them as God's Word and not the word of men. Paul also understood that the Word of God had taken hold of their lives and was bearing spiritual fruit. The Bible says, "If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to My Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, proving yourselves to be My disciples.…"(John 15:7-8). Bearing much fruit is allowing the Word to take root in us.

The Bible says, "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God" (Colossians 3:16 ESV). By receiving and applying the Word of God in our lives, the efficacy produces tremendous results, bears fruit and motivates us to good deeds and godly living. It inspires change in any area of life and positions us to consistently walk in the power of God's Spirit. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Matthew 4:4; 1 Peter 2:2; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

Exuberant Declaration: The Word of God is like tree of righteousness being rooted in me as I meditate on it, and from it, I receive consistent supplies of strength, victory and good success. Daily, I study and receive the Word of God with great eagerness. Hence, I blossom like a tree planted by the streams of water, that brings forth fruit in their seasons. By acting on the principles, they produce good and intended results in my life and cause all I do to prosper. Hallelujah!
