THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE - PART 1
THURSDAY 17 FEBRUARY 2022
In the book of John Chapter 14, Jesus assured that He is the way to the Father. As He was about to prepare for His death and glory, He comforted His disciples, saying, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know." I personally value this Scripture very much because Jesus granted us a glimpse of disclosure of the wealth and riches of His Father in heaven, which equally belong to us.
Reference: John 14:6 New King James Version (NKJV) 'Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."'
Jesus assured His disciples about where He was going back to. Then He said to them, "You know the way to the place where I am going." Thomas said to Jesus, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Why did Jesus tell them that they knew the way? This is because "the way" had been with them all the while. But Thomas as a doubter had to be doubtful about the "way" he had been with.
Interestingly, one advantage about Thomas' question is that he wanted to make sure he didn't miss the way to Christ's destination and the riches in heaven which He was in charge of. Jesus, as the eternal entity of the Trinity, is God the Son, and He oversees many mansions as part of the riches and splendour of the ivory palaces of heaven, the streets of gold with exquisite polished stones, surrounded by constant glory, power, and majesty of God. So the riches Jesus expressed before His disciples downgraded anything Thomas had ever seen or heard and also made any amount of wealth on earth so poor. And I anticipate that for this reason, Thomas wasn't ready to take chances. From the human standpoint, he needed to ascertain or be sure he obtained the address and the way to it, so there wouldn't be any story.
Indeed, no one comes to the Father except through our Lord Jesus Christ, meaning that someday, we shall all live together as saints, with the Father and our Lord Jesus. You can now perceive why today's topic is very important. Revelation 21:3-4 (NIV) reads, 'And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."'
Beloved, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, not a way, a truth and a life. Since its a definite article, it indicates that the identity of the way, truth and life has been made known to us, who is Christ. If you observe the sequence, you'd realise the layout or the structure. Simply put, once you locate the way, inside is a system known as "truth" and the framework, known as "life". Christ, the way, is an array of the only entrance, His deity is hidden and revealed in the truth, and His life is apparent in His divine nature as you access and embrace the truth. Stay tuned for part 2 of this topic. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - John 3:36; John 10:9; 1 Timothy 2:5; John 14:7; Romans 6:23.
Exuberant Declaration: I believe that Jesus is the precious Son of God and the only express way to Him. He is the truth and the life, who was made manifest in the flesh, and is now revealed in me as my Lord and the hope of glory. The resurrected and ascended Christ is my ever-present assurance of heavenly inheritance and One through which the Spirit brings me into direct union with God, the Father. I'm grateful for my ever-increasing grace in Christ, which is inseparable from the reality of my existing Christian life. Therefore, I daily acknowledge His enduring, permanent witness in my spirit which testifies to the life of God within me. Hallelujah!
