THE SPIRIT OF SCRIPTURE AND ITS FORESIGHT

THURSDAY 07 OCTOBER 2021

The Spirit of Scripture makes accurate predictions of the future. It is precise and consistent in predicting the future because its a realm of God's Spirit and perspective. It is the Spirit that unveils or discloses or gives insight into the hidden mind of God concerning the future, which means, it delivers perfect strategic foresight. By gaining the knowledge of the Scriptures, we can be well-versed in every subject matter concerning God's purpose and counsel of His will, in regard to the future.

Reference: Galatians 3:8 Good News Translation (GNT) 'The scripture predicted that God would put the Gentiles right with himself through faith. And so the scripture announced the Good News to Abraham: "Through you God will bless all people."

GOD'S WORD® Translation made it simple: 'Scripture saw ahead of time that God would give his approval to non-Jewish people who have faith. So Scripture announced the Good News to Abraham ahead of time when it said, "Through you all the people of the world will be blessed."'

The Spirit of Scripture revealed the mystery of God's plan to Abraham and kept him abreast of the plan for the future. In other words, Abraham was informed and up-to-date with sense of grace - which is the Good News that God had in mind to introduce through Christ. By the Spirit of Scripture, he received the announcement of the upcoming divine plan for the Gentiles, which is for them to be made right with God at the fullness of time, through faith in Christ.

So, long ago the Spirit of Scripture informed Abraham that God would accept the Gentiles because of their faith. Scripture here was not a script or written code, but a dimension of God's Spirit that "foresees" the mind of God (1 Corinthians 2:11 NIV). Again watch this: And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed "(ESV). Through unusual divine encounter, the Spirit preached the gospel we have today to Abraham "beforehand." And that was a rise in elevation of his status as a Patriarch, and the esteem he gets from us as Christians today.

Always remember that we are commissioned to preach the gospel as Christians. However, your Bible will not stand up and begin to preach, except you use it to preach. So what preached the gospel to Abraham is the Spirit behind the Scripture, yet to be written as of then, otherwise other men would've read the same in his time. This is the same Spirit that reveals things to come. John 16:13 says, "...He will tell you about the future." But here's the secret: Abraham, being sensitive to the heart of God, had an encounter with the Spirit which granted him the benefits of the foresight. Think about it: Amongst all the men and women of his day, the Spirit of Scripture only approached Abraham, and reported the foresight to him.

Let me tell you one great thing about this Patriarch - The superiority of his faith in ancient times was powerfully overwhelming. He used to attract spiritual men and welcome angels through sharp-witted encounters. Remember, the Scripture is a superior, enlightening and governing Spirit. It gives light to your inner man as you meditate on it. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV), "All Scripture is God-breathed..." The superiority of God's breathe over a man's spirit is boundless. So you can now understand the Spirit our father, Abraham encountered. In his day, he was alert and receptive, in view of the supernatural. Compared to men of those days, his eyes of faith was more open to all supernatural and angelic signals.

For instance, in Genesis 18, Abraham welcomed the three divine visitors through discernment and next, he hurried to meet and bow to them. The three visitors were coming as mere men towards his tent. According to the passage, there was nothing special that indicated they were supernatural beings, yet Abraham stood up quickly to attend to them (see verses 1-2). Eventually he received the good news from them, that his wife Sarah would have a son.

Today, in view of the glorious gospel of Christ, Abraham was the first to hear it. (All) the more so, Abraham is regarded as the father of the human race, because no matter who comes to Christ by faith, all is regarded as the true children of Abraham and God's promise to Abraham belongs to them through Christ (Galatians 3:29). Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Jeremiah 29:11; Isaiah 46:9-10; Galatians 3:22; 2 Peter 1:21.

Exuberant Declaration: My life in Christ is excellent and glorious because I've been made right with God by my faith in Christ. I'm functioning under the right economy, having been blessed as the seed of the great patriarch, Abraham. I believe in the promised blessing of the Spirit, I live by faith in the glorious Gospel, and I'm blessed, with my needs lavishly supplied in excess, according to the fulfilled promises in Christ. Praise God!
