THE PROOF OF GOD'S POWER TO HELP - PART 1
SATURDAY 20 AUGUST 2022
Before we can embrace the help of God in a great dimension as His people, our desire for Him must rise to a crescendo. It matters how much we long for God and it must become evident in our lives in a progressive increase of intensity and enthusiasm. As we do so with a sincere heart, we are certainly moulded into conformity to the desires of His will, intent or purpose for our lives, which in turn afford us every help we require from Him.
Reference: Psalm 63:8 New King James Version (NKJV) "My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me."
David's soul followed close behind God, meaning that his eagerness and desire to walk with God was expressed from his inwardness. As a result, God's right hand upheld him. What is this human soul? It is the spiritual or immaterial part of a human being; the actuating cause of an individual life, which gives him the right to exist as human, and its regarded as immortal. In Greek translation, the soul is known as "Psuche" which denotes a person's dinstict identity. It is a term sourced from the root of the English words "psyche" or "psychology". According to strong's concordance, this same soul is the direct aftermath of God breathing (blowing) His gift of life into a person, and making them an ensouled living being.
To fully grasp the light in which David penned down this verse, we should be able to absorb more information about our soul. Soul is that which is responsible for one's thoughts, feelings, emotions and desire, because it is the seat of the faculty of reason. Moreover, in today's Scripture, the Psalmist means more than just the soul because he majored on following God bumper to bumper. Since Psyche comes from the Greek "psykhe", which means: the soul, mind, spirit, or invisible animating totality of the elements occupying the physical body, it implies that the Psalmist was completely pursuing after God with everything in him. Notably, this was a Davidic psalm written when he was in the wilderness of Judah, where he mingled with nobody else but himself and the presence of God. So when our referenced verse renders it this way: "My soul follows close behind You", it actually implies that his entire being or personhood sought after God, and it was deeply coming from his moral concept.
Our enthusiasm in pursuit of God's display of His manifest lovingkindness, will always result in His right hand upholding us. In the context of Davidic revelation regarding his divine encounter, to uphold is to confirm, help, support, sustain, and to back someone up on everything. When God's right hand upholds you, it is the proof of His power to help and sustain you in all your ways. Understand that God's right hand speaks volume about His supreme authority. When such authority is backing you up, you'll never miss your way, let alone be disappointed or be in the dark about the steps you take. No wonder Psalm 16:11 reads, "You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand" (NIV). Indeed, what we experience at His right hand is worthy of notice: Eternal pleasures! Got it?
Eternal pleasures involve unconditional help, lasting satisfaction, intense joy, blameless gratification, righteous fulfilment and honourable contentment. They are all within our reach or accessible at God's right hand, which denotes the abundant life characterized by unco pleasure, stability, comfort, safety, and peace with prosperity. However, our souls must truly desire God to experience them all. Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!

Guided Prayer: Dear Father in heaven, thank you for causing your face to shine on me and for surrounding me with the surpassing power of your help. Partaking of your grace and glorious presence is structural to my lasting satisfaction and joy. My soul thirsts and pants for you more than the deer pants for streams of water. Your lovingkindness will forever settle and rest as a proof of succour, comfort and luxury upon my life, both in my soul and body. Surely, your right hand will remain the steam-engine that exerts the dynamic force, which securely belts and wheels your blessings and favour into every aspect of my life in Jesus' Name, Amen!
