COMMUNION WITH THE SPIRIT - PART 4
SATURDAY 10 DECEMBER 2022
The grace and treasures of the gospel light are easily experienced through our communion with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, if we desire a Christian life that has its strength, surface and structure, shaped by the guiding influence of the Holy Spirit, we must learn to walk by the Spirit and develop an intimate relationship with Him.

Reference: Romans 14:17 New International Version (NIV) "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."
The apostle Paul proceeds in describing how we have been established in Kingdom characterised by the dominion of righteousness and peace, as well as joy produced by the Spirit, which are the fountain of life. Why are the three realities, the product of the Holy Spirit? It's because God's grace cannot function by or stand with man's merit. For instance, our self righteousness is not God's righteousness. The peace of God passes all human understanding, meaning that it's not man made (see Philippians 4:7 NIV). That means, the more a Christian relies on his communion with the Holy Spirit, the more devotedly, he will walk before God in righteousness, and with peace and joy. So, they are the living foundation of the Christian life and the process by which we draw the blessings of the Gospel to ourselves. To instantiate this, Isaiah 12:3 says, "With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation" (NLT).
Therefore I can guarantee you that even the best of Christians will faint spiritually if the Kingdom of God is all about the matter of eating and drinking. However, it's not really about bodily structure, in terms of dieting tips for body building or muscular physique. It's a spiritual Kingdom and a spiritual life sustained by the Spirit (see John 6:63 KJV). Moreover, the real matter of eating and drinking that is remarkable in this Kingdom, which we are encouraged to take often and very soberly is the Holy communion. In this case, the little piece of bread and small amount of drink are not designed to fill one's stomach, yet the communion can exert the forces of miraculous wonder, which can been seen in operation in one's life because of the profound significance. Got it? The significance is noted in 1st Corinthians 10:16 which says, "When we bless the cup at the Lord's Table, aren't we sharing in the blood of Christ? And when we break the bread, aren’t we sharing in the body of Christ?"
Our communion with the Holy Spirit is quite beneficial because it is the secret to accessing divine solutions that can melt life's complicated issues. The benefits are certain and uncountable. Few of them can be noted as follows:
1. It helps us to keep fulfilling God's plan for our lives, as we embrace our purpose and destiny in Christ. 2. It grants us tremendous access to miraculous zone and encounters in the realm of the spirit. 3. It reveals the concealed to our understanding and makes the gospel truths, our reality. 4. It emboldens our faith walk with God and enlarges our perspective regarding the depth of God. 5. It grants profound access to revelation knowledge in line with the hidden mind of God. 6. It positions us in God's perfect will for our lives, where we just keep walking in love with God and fellow Christians. 7. It helps us to develop our prayer life, thereby pulling treasures out of the fountain of the Spirit at work in us. 8. It ignites fire in our service to God and empowers us to locate and overturn the demonic assignment against our lives. 9. It enables us to live the supernatural life in a natural world, which is to live above the limited life of the flesh. 10. It helps us to live an effective and bold Christian life in this present world by building the image of Christ in us.
These are few of the signals and manifestations which serve as a proof of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. They are emblematic of "true commitment" to God by means of communion with the Holy Spirit. And we mainly sustain this communion by feeding on the Word, practising righteousness, praying in the Spirit, and praying other kinds of prayer, without ceasing. Shalom!
