PERPETUAL OVERCOMERS

Anything perpetual occurs repeatedly. It appears so frequent as to seem endless and uninterrupted. Your victory is perpetual in Christ Jesus. When you are called an overcomer in Christ, it means that you've achieved victory over anything in life, both in the present and in the future. There are conditions of functioning as a perpetual overcomer in your world. Let's find out.

Reference: 1 John 4:4 King James Version (KJV)

'Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.'

This verse is a statement of assurance to the Christians by saint John. He emphasized that as Christians we have 'overcome' the evil one in the World, just like he earlier mentioned in 1 John 2:13-14 (NIV).

Every born again Christian is an overcomer. But to function properly as an active overcomer, it totally depends on the level of consciousness we attach to this truth individually. For instance, a baby Christian may not be able to activate this truth in every area of life because of limited awareness in his operations. Thus he can't live it out or enforce it as an ordinance in his daily life. To do so effectively, first you must deliberately acknowledge your victory given to you freely by Christ when you became a born again.

Second, you must position yourself to walk as an overcomer. How? By developing the mentality of an overcomer. To develop this mentality, it starts by meditating on the Word, so that your critical thinking faculties will absorb the flow of victory comfortability, until your mind conforms with the description in reality. Once your mind conforms, you'll find out that your action or approach to life, such as observation, interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, explanation, and metacognition will fall in line with the attitude of an overcomer. Then you can speak the victory language, live in victory and demonstrate the mentality of an overcomer in your sphere of daily activities.

As a born again Christian, the Spirit of God dwells in you and that is why you are greater than anything, any system in the world, any demon, any power and any outside force. Nothing can put you at a disadvantage. That's what our opening Scripture is talking about. As if this truth is not enough, Romans 8:37 further tells us that despite any challenge, and in everything, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Beloved, its an overwhelming victory through Christ and the concept is too much for the ordinary mind.

In whatever you do, function with this mindset. Refuse to think defeat. Refuse to be unnerved. Refuse to settle for less. Refuse to cower. Refuse to chicken out and refuse to entertain discouragement. The right mindset yields the right results and you are an overcomer in any field of life. That means, you should possess the right mindset. 1 John 5:4 (NKJV) says, 'For whatever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith.' Notice that it didn't say, 'overcomes part of the world' but 'overcomes the world.' Just accept this truth as it is. You are an ardent believer, so function in this truth. Remember, in Mark 9:23 (NKJV), Jesus said, 'if you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.'

'All things' in Mark 9:23 means, 'there is no exception'. Therefore do not allow your perception limit you from becoming who the Word says you are. Overcomers believe in pressing forward and accomplishing desired goals. Don't allow challenges to stop you. If there are any, then pass through, around or over them and settle at nothing but accomplishing your task and fulfilling your purpose in Christ - by the strength of God's Spirit. Jazz your spirit up today and always; for you are an overcomer!

Exuberant Declaration:

I am more than a winner in Christ Jesus. I'm an ardent overcomer and have already overcome the world because greater is He that is in me than the one in the world. I walk in dominion, victory and authority and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I am born of God; therefore my life is the expression of God's supremacy, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
