OVERWHELMING TRIUMPH - PART 1

WEDNESDAY 27 MARCH 2024

At the heart of Christendom is the mystery of unbounded victory the Lord Jesus obtained for the church, which is His body, denoting the company of those He rescued from the kingdom of darkness and bondage of sin and transferred into His Kingdom of light.

As the knowledge of our Lord Jesus strategically grows in you through Golden news articles, I want you to prepare your mind and spirit even more, to gain the accurate understanding of this new topic known as "Overwhelming triumph" - an uncommon event that took place on the cross of Calvary as found in Biblical records, so that the inner and outer layers of your spiritual reasoning will absorb the comprehensive structure of the present knowledge that can apparently be unveiled by the Spirit of truth, in relation to the topic. More below!

Reference: Colossians 2:15 New International Version (NIV)

"And having disarmed the powers and authorities, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."

To introduce the synopsis of context of this Scripture properly, I will outline the fundamental premise of the written account of passages preceding the above versified reference, in order to enable me throw light on the underlying formation of the inference of Christ's overwhelming triumph, with the confidence of ascertained clarity. It reads:

And in Him you have been made complete [achieving spiritual stature through Christ], and He is the head over all rule and authority [of every angelic and earthly power]. In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but by the [spiritual] circumcision of Christ in the stripping off of the body of the flesh [the sinful carnal nature], having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him [to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God, [as displayed] when He raised Christ from the dead. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (worldliness, manner of life), God made you alive together with Christ, having [freely] forgiven us all our sins, having cancelled out the certificate of debt consisting of legal demands [which were in force] against us and which were hostile to us. And this certificate He has set aside and completely removed by nailing it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross. (Colossians 2:10-15 Amplified Bible).

Before I commence the in-depth systematic exposition of our versified reference, there are keywords or concepts that are of great importance within the framework of the specified Scriptures numbered above as Colossians 2:10-15 (AMP), and they are as follows:

1. The stripping off of the body of the flesh [the sinful carnal nature],

2. The cancellation of the certificate of debt consisting of legal demands [which were in force] against us and which were hostile to us. Christ has set this certificate aside and completely removed it by nailing it to the cross.

The first concept, which is "the stripping off of the body of the flesh [the sinful carnal nature]," implies that the sinful nature has been done away with (this is currently effective for those who are in Christ Jesus). To that effect, apostle Paul stated, "For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin" (Romans 6:6 NIV).

The second concept which is "the cancellation of the certificate of debt consisting of legal demands [which were in force] against us and which were hostile to us" implies that Christ has set aside this cancelled certificate of debt incurred by our sinful nature, and completely removed it by nailing it to the cross. This is to say that it has been invalidated out of enforcement in our Christian lives. Now there is a new valid certificate, known as "redemption" in accordance with Ephesians 1:7 (NIV).

I understand that some natural or logical minds like to desacralize the new creation by concluding that they have a past, and are still subject to sinful nature, but this is a mistaken belief. The problem is that even a surprising number of God's people has subscribed to this belief and so, it has become part of their reality as a result, yet, 2nd Corinthians 5:17 reads, "...anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" (NLT). Stay tuned for the successive parts of this topic. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - John 16:33; 1 Corinthians 15:57; Romans 8:37; 1 John 5:4.

Exuberant Declaration:

I am found, established and rooted in Christ Jesus, a place of infinite authority, unlimited dominion and overwhelming triumph, and I reproduce the irrefutable evidence of His victory in my life and world by the empowering influence of the precious Holy Spirit, markedly and blatantly. Hallelujah!
