LIVING FROM A POSITION OF TRUST
Every great relationship in life requires trust to be sustained, and most importantly, our personal relationship with God. Every blessing, favour and inheritance we receive from God comes by trusting in God and exercising faith in the finished work of Christ. Trusting in God means, 'developing a firm belief in the ability of the right person, at all times, with the right motives, and in the right way.' God is the right Person to trust because of these three reasons: He is reliable; He is truth, and He does not change. Therefore, our relationship with God has to be built on a trust basis.
Reference: Psalm 28:7 New King James Version (NKJV) 'The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.'
Only those who trust the Lord can boldly say, 'The Lord is my strength and my shield.' Trusting in the Lord builds confidence and attracts divine help that gladdens the heart. No wonder David's praise was founded on a reason - a gladdened heart. With song of praise, David reacted profusely to God's help.
When you trust God and function from the position of trust, the Lord becomes your strength and shield. He doesn't merely supply you with strength when you need it; He is your strength and your shield because you have the source Himself. Moreso, trust is not something we just give to God naturally. We have to experientially grow to a place of genuinely knowing that God is forever faithful and trustworthy. It's not enough to simply say that we trust God, we must be tried and tested to establish this trust as a way of life and then go deeper in the realm of trust.
Most likely when Psalm 28 was written, David was in a period of trial. Much like the way you can face a challenge today, David's life was challenged in every way and yet God helped and preserved him from unnumbered ills; So David's trust in God was built on his several experiences and encounters with God through all-round battles and He was marvellously helped by God. David's heart was so sure that God is trustworthy, and he was never disappointed even once by God.
Every Christian needs to genuinely believe and experience God on a daily basis so as to live from a position of trust. Therefore, no matter the circumstance, you must declare, 'I am wondrously helped, for the Lord is my strength and His divine assistance is with me always.' This confession will continually grant you a sense of dependence on God and inspire confidence within you, that come what may, your solution or help is beyond human ability and comprehension.
Scripture Reading - Psalm 46:1; Isaiah 41:13; Proverbs 3:5-6; Isaiah 26:3; Jeremiah 17:7-8.
Exuberant Declaration: The Lord is good! A stronghold in the day of trouble; He is my strength inwardly, and my shield outwardly. My heart trusts in Him and I am marvellously assisted and sustained by Him. Thus, I rejoice greatly as I take advantage of His help in my life. I live out the supernatural life naturally and I demonstrate His glory and wisdom in everything. I function with excellence of divinity that's inherent in my spirit and with songs of praise, I dance my way from glory to glory. Hallelujah!
