JESUS: THE ETERNAL SON OF GOD - PART 1
Jesus is the eternal God who manifested in the flesh as the Son of God and son of man. His name is powerfully dignified, majestic and efficacious in the heavenly realms and in world's entire history. He reigns in heaven and in the hearts of the saints on earth. A little account of His life on earth, like an autobiography, is revealed and written in the Bible as inspired by the Holy Spirit. I used the term, "a little account" because it is not every detail about His life and manifestations on earth that was written in the Bible.
Reference: John 20:30-31 New International Version (NIV) "Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name."
Jesus as a man, did many mighty works and performed many signs and wonders which are not recorded in the Bible. Even if all were to be recorded, we would search forever in vain for an understanding of the exact number of the miraculous events performed by Him because they were innumerable. Jesus is indeed the revelation of God personified. His words were not ordinary and His name is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, the eternal God embodied in human form in order to establish the salvation of mankind. In sum, He is the incarnate Son, God and man made manifest in a bodily form.
In his epistle at Ephesus regarding God's testimony about Christ Jesus, John the Evangelist says, "I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life" (1 John 5:13 NLT). The name of Jesus is the most powerful and highest name that can be uttered in heaven and on earth. In other words, we acknowledge the sovereignty of Christ by the full significance of the glory of His name both in heaven and on earth. The Bible says, "Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names..." (Philippians 2:9 NLT). That means the name carries an indescribable and eternal weight of glory. When you declare it and accept Him as Lord, which is to believe in His name, you are quickened by His eternal power and divine nature to receive eternal life, which is in the name.
Since the Scripture is written so that we might believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, sitting at the right hand of God, when anyone believes and receives Him, they are sure to come into an eternal union with God. That way, Christ is shrined in their hearts and His Spirit takes over their lives. Beloved, God provided us with the written revelation of Christ and His name in the Bible. Not only do we declare the written Word of God, His enabling power is activated when we mention the name of Jesus, and we can obtain the greatest testimony by using His name effectively. The written Word contains instructive letters inspired by the Spirit to activate our belief system, to empower us to live by the enlightening information therein and to grant us access to eternal life in His name. Stay tuned for part 2 of this topic. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - John 6:47; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; 1 John 5:1-2.
Guided Prayer: Gracious Father in heaven, I honour you because you have no beginning and end. By being so gracious, you have provided me with special revelation of Christ and His name, which governs and influences my experience and spiritual life on earth. Thank you Lord because the Word was written for my benefits that I may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the eternal God, and by believing, I'm justified and I have eternal life in His name. I'm daily motivated and prompted by your Spirit to pry into the mysteries of Christ in the Word with joyful exuberance in Jesus' Name, Amen!
