JESUS BORE OUR JUDGEMENT ON THE CROSS
SATURDAY 16 APRIL 2022
It all started with a deception, when the serpent, known as the Devil came to meet Eve at the Garden of Eden. When God asked Adam what happened, he said, "The woman you put here with me - she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it." Then God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman put the blame on the Devil saying, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate." For this reason, God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. From then on, man incurred enmity against God and was separated from His presence because of sin of disobedience.

Reference: Genesis 3:15 New International Version (NIV) "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
Immediately after the fall of man, God affirmed an enmity between the offspring of the serpent and the offspring of the woman. According to the above Scripture, "He will crush your head, and you will strike His heel." As a result of this forecast, Satan inflicted a temporary bruise to the offspring of the woman by crucifying Jesus on the cross, leading to His death. However, Satan's act of bruising the heel of Christ wouldn't suggest the final outcome, because Jesus would be raised from death after three days. Through Satan's bruises, Christ died on our behalf, having been made a sin offering for all mankind. This implies that the "bruised heel of the seed of the woman" denotes the crucifixion of Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:21(NLT) reads, "For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ." Yes, He bore our sins and its judgment on the cross and, in doing so, His heel was bruised. Though heavily wounded and afflicted, Christ's harm and sufferings didn't mean His defeat in any way, because He would be raised from the dead three days later. Through His death and resurrection, Christ would overcome sin and death, thereby dealing a serious death blow to Satan's conspiracy to crucify Him, as well as Satan's rule and dominance.
The focus of the entire story of Christ's crucifixion is to remind and enlighten us about God's eternal plan and unconditional love for mankind which was fulfilled through Christ's coming in bodily existence. Galatians 4:4-5 reads, "But when the time arrived that was set by God the Father, God sent his Son, born among us of a woman, born under the conditions of the law so that he might redeem those of us who have been kidnapped by the law. Thus we have been set free to experience our rightful heritage (MSG). This implies that the law was never intended to be the very means by which God would deliver salvation to mankind. It was a mere, temporary preparatory measure pointing mankind to the coming of Christ Jesus and the glorious gospel of grace.
Beloved, assuredly, on the third day, Christ would be raised by the power of the Most High God, and the gospel would be complete, according God's plan, which is the purpose of Easter celebration. Since the proper time had fully come, the law has been removed because Christ has fulfilled its requirements and purpose. Sin has been dealt with and salvation in Christ is available to all and sundry. At this very moment, the two most important questions are: Do you now understand and appreciate the purpose of God in Christ as revealed on the cross? Have you received the salvation freely available in Christ? If the answer to my second question is in the negative, kindly declare the prayer of salvation below with a sincere heart, and Christ will make your heart His humble abode instantly. Shalom!
Scripture Reading - 1saiah 53:4; Hebrews 12:2; 1 Corinthians 1:18; 1 Peter 2:24.
Guided Prayer: I acknowledge today that God demonstrated His unconditional love for me in this: While living without Christ, He sent Him ahead of time to die for me. Therefore I renounce the nature of sin and I accept Jesus as my Saviour. I believe and confess with all my heart that Jesus is the Son of the true living God, who died for me and was raised from the dead on the third day by God. I believe that Jesus is risen and He's alive forever. I accept Him into my heart and I declare His Lordship over my life forever. I'm now born again as a new creation. I have eternal life: my present-moment reality. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me and taking full charge of my life, as my Lord. GLORY TO GOD!
