GRACE-FILLED TONGUE - PART 2

THURSDAY 12 JANUARY 2023

The beauty and propriety of grace-filled words are mind-boggling. It's like the sudden rise of a fresh air. In other words, it conveys a wonderful freshness, aroma and spark that are appealing and delightful to hearers. In a nutshell, a grace-filled tongue can influence or fill others with joie de vivre.

Reference: Isaiah 50:4 New Living Translation (NLT) "The Sovereign LORD has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will."

The treasures or words of wisdom are rare; they are only with God, and are made known by Him. Put simply, true wisdom comes from God. Zero wonder James 1:5 (NIV) says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." Notice that when you ask God for it, He will grant you the wisdom generously without mocking you or without reproach. Got it? He will not ridicule you that you've been unwise, just like some men do. No! He will never find fault or reason to deny you such request.

At one point, Daniel and his teammates (friends), needed wisdom to face a particular situation. Although what the king asked for was too difficult, Daniel requested for more time, so that he might interpret his dream for him. Having asked for wisdom from God, during the night, the mystery was revealed to him in a vision. Daniel, being grateful, worshipped God saying, "I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors: You have given me wisdom and power, you have made known to me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the dream of the king" (Daniel 2:23 NIV).

Imagine that God wasn't stingy with such; He gave Daniel such wisdom as a fitting response. In other words, it was timely! And because of that, their lives were preserved and Daniel was promoted by the King. Considering the value of wisdom, Ecclesiastes 7:12 reads, "Wisdom and money can get you almost anything, but only wisdom can save your life (NLT). However, wisdom is even sweeter when you have money because both are a benefit as you go through life.

When you function in supernatural wisdom, you'll sustain a well-instructed tongue, meaning that the force of wisdom will inspire your speech, such that you speak well or talk right at the appropriate time, under any circumstance or in any given situation. Remember that Colossians 4:5-6 (ESV) says, "Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."

Put in another sentence, it means, be wise in the way you act toward others and make the most of every opportunity. Making the most of every opportunity mainly entails - knowing what to say at every moment in time, while dealing with others. Then the next verse tells us exactly how to do so: "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person" (verse 6). Stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Proverbs 1:7; Proverbs 10:13; Proverbs 13:10; Proverbs 14:8.

Guided Prayer: Heavenly Father, your Word teaches that wisdom is better than foolishness, just as light is better than darkness. Therefore, I thank you because of Christ Jesus, who has become for me wisdom from above. In Him, all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge lie hidden and He is confirmed so in my life by all my experiences. Thank you Father for the lasting and ongoing transformation produced by Christ, the wisdom at work in me, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
