GOD IS LIGHT

TUESDAY 6 JULY 2021

God is light and those who have received salvation are called out of darkness and transferred to the Kingdom of His marvelous light.

Reference: 1 John 1:5 English Standard Version (ESV) "This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."

In the Scripture, God as a light symbolizes holiness and purity. His light is also associated with divine or revelation knowledge (see Daniel 2:22; 2 Corinthians 4:6). In God, there is no atom of darkness. He sent His Son as light to the world full of darkness. When Jesus was in the world, He was not understood by the world. The Bible says, "And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it" (John 1:5 NKJV). He is the true light which the physical and spiritual darkness cannot comprehend. Many people who reject the gospel do so because they misunderstand it. Their inability to see Jesus for who He is, is caused by darkness.

Proverbs 4:19 says, "But the way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom; they do not know what makes them stumble." That means, they are in a state of such thick darkness, that, which ever way they follow, they slip. It is the same with spiritual realities. How could they possibly understand spiritual things when the light of God's Spirit is not in them to give them inner enlightenment?

Christ's glory was to reflect the Father's light. The Bible says that Christ is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature (see Hebrews 1:3). He is not an independent God, but the image of God, manifesting the light of His Father. Jesus Himself confirmed this in John 9:5 (NIV) saying, "While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

God's light brings salvation and prosperity to man. No wonder Jesus said in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (ESV). As Christians, we are called walk in this light and also to be the light for others. Once our spiritual sight is flooded or inundated by the inner revelation of God's light and Kingdom and also our position in the heavenly places, there is no limit to what we can accomplish on earth for the Lord. An understanding of the mystery of this light enforces the reign of Christ in our lives and changes our whole perspective in regard to dealing with the issues of life. By the revelation of divine light, we are bound to live victoriously and triumphantly now and always - in this present age.

Beloved, as born again Christians, the light of God is resident in our inner man. It is our spirit that is more conscious that we carry and radiate this light. The Bible says, "God reveals things to us by His Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us" (1 Corinthians 2:10-12).

It is the human spirit that sustains the light of God's Word. This is why God reveals the things of the Spirit to us in our spirit. This is also the reason Satan's trick is to blind a man's inner eyes from accessing divine realities, so he won't see himself exactly the way God sees him. We are the vessels through which God manifests His light to the world as Jesus did, especially among those who manifest the spirit of the god of this world (see Matthew 5:14-16 NIV). Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Psalm 27:1; John 1:4; Psalm 50:2; Acts 13:47; 1 Thessalonians 5:5; 1 John 1:7.

Exuberant Declaration: I belong to the kingdom of light and I carry the light of God's presence in my spirit. His Word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path. It guides me perfectly in the truth; hence, the works and forces of darkness cannot comprehend my steps. The Lord has filled me with light and I live as a child of light in my world, producing everything that is good and pleasing in His sight. Hallelujah!
