CONSIDER JESUS - PART 3

FRIDAY 17 MAY 2024

Reference: Hebrews 3:1 English Standard Version (ESV)

"Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession."

The next segment to be expounded by my humble self - in accordance with our versified reference, is:

Why should we consider the Lord Jesus?

This question is very important because some people don't even know why or understand the reason we should do so. I mean that if you have to replay His thoughts or contemplation within the airspace of your mental faculty, why is it a necessity?

This is because He matters a lot and makes the uncommon difference in an evil world, and therefore, considering Him is an occurrence which must be frequently observed by keeping our focus on Him, reflecting on Him, taking note of Him, and in turn, it keeps our faith alive to God. Notably, this practice is part of divine plan for our perfect peace because the Lord Jesus Himself already assured us saying, "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world" (John 16:33 NLT).

Indeed He will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on Him, because he trusts in Him (Isaiah 26:3 NKJV). Notice the rendering, "Whose mind is stayed on Him", which denotes a mind-positioning strategy that involves creating an association with His divinity in your thought pattern, thereby improving on and developing His realities and visibility as the heavenly man, which in turn, exerts a deeper "inner working" of His grace across the territory of the human mind.

To expound this truth clearly, there is an important statement made by Apostle Paul, which has an exhorting significance. It is numbered as Philippians 4:8 and it reads, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" (KJV).

But beloved, you cannot passionately think of things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report and more glorious effects, if you are far from considering Jesus or keeping your mind stayed on Him. To that effect, Pauline epistolary expression numbered as Colossians 3:1-2 reads, "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things" (NIV). The AMP rendering reads, "Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]."

Yes, fix your eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith... (Hebrews 12:2 NIV). Hear me, you have one soul, which is the invisible image of your "SPIRIT", where your faith emerges from (or is activated), having been recreated in Christ's image. This is why Jesus is the pioneer and perfecter of your faith. So what must you do? Focus the entirety of your soul on Jesus, that is your mind, will and emotion. Submit them to His Lordship, for that is the most effectual way to consider or fix your eyes on Him.

In conclusion, Paul stated in 2nd Timothy 2:8 saying, "Keep your mind on Jesus Christ (consider Him). He was raised from death (victory over death). He was of the family of David (royal blood). That is the good news I tell people" - Worldwide English (New Testament). Stay tuned for part 4. Shalom!

Scripture Reading - Psalm 16:8; Psalm 119:15; Psalm 143:8; Romans 12:2.

Exuberant  Declaration:

I have my eyes fully fixed on Christ Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith. With His thoughtful presence in my mind, and by yielding to His Lordship, I'm built and strengthened daily, and I'm well-equipped for His higher service. Praise God!
